Avellino Lab USA, Inc. is a pre-IPO world leader in genetic diagnostics and gene therapy research. Avellino developed the first commercially available genetic test for corneal dystrophy (a degenerative eye condition), providing a fast and accurate test to help guide physicians in treating their patients to prevent or delay vision loss. Avellino continues to innovate and has developed a next-generation sequencing (NGS) test for keratoconus. In addition to the diagnosis of these progressive eye diseases, Avellino is also developing state-of-the-art siRNA and CRISPR gene editing programs for corneal dystrophies and for treatment technologies that can be applied to other diseases beyond ophthalmology. Avellino Labs operates globally and has been recognized for its work, including being named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum.
Avellino has a newly developed, FDA-validated coronavirus diagnostic test –the Avellino SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 Test (AvellinoCoV2 Test) – a Laboratory Developed Test (LDT) that uses Real-Time Reverse Transcriptase RT-qPCR for the presumptive in vitro qualitative detection of nucleic acid from the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Avellino is ramping up operations in order to meet the worldwide need for SARS-CoV-2 testing.
Avellino seeks an experienced Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) engineer who will be involved in architecting, selecting, testing, integrating, and migrating a LIMS platform into Avellino. The LIMS engineer will also work with others to the LIMS platform interface to different software platforms, including front end digital entry, management of customer inputted information, processing of laboratory tests, and reporting of results back to customers and to public health agencies.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Select, integrate, migrate, develop, maintain the LIMS platform
Support various company software as needed, including Avellino’s customer-facing Web Application for patient test administration.
Develop, maintain, support, and integrate software as needed for the LIMS platform.
Work in a team environment, including with third-party vendors, to develop, maintain, and support software for and related to the LIMS platform.
Program and debug in various features on the LIMS platform.
Work with IT for software development, deployment, and support.
Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field or its equivalence in job experience.
3-6 years experience in in LIMS administration, support, and development.
Support laboratory operations and organization
Work with other software platforms as needed for overall laboratory workflow from front-end in-take to the various reporting and output requirements
Understanding of functional software tests, regression testing, automated test (functional and regression) with platforms that are codeless and support scripting/programming
Working knowledge of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software products for external and internal customers.
Experience in the biotech/life sciences industry.
Experience with AWS cloud environments.
