Description & Requirements
We are looking for someone who has passion & displayed potential to understand what consumers say vs. what they really mean. Someone who is passionate about building brands and seeing the immediate impact of their efforts in market- who can lead and inspire teams (direct as well as up and cross-functional) to achieve what has not been achieved before. Someone who is not afraid of making mistakes as long as they are learning from them. As Innovation Director - ESA you will be responsible for strategizing in developing insightful new products and product evolution to meet consumer needs. This includes bringing alive your deep understanding of the consumer in the 3-5-year innovation pipeline for your platforms- focusing on bigger- bolder bets.Work collaboratively & creatively with the Consumer Insights team to create a deeper understanding of what consumers say vs. what they really mean. Leverage this understanding to identify relevant pain points or desired progress in life that our brands can help resolve.
Key Components of the Role
Bring transformative- non-traditional thinking to 3 platforms by tweaking current brands and creating new whitespace brands.
Define & deliver validated long-term innovation strategy that solves critical pain points or brings desired progress to consumers’ lives while making a strong addition to revenue and profit.
Manage innovation through the Stage Gate process- and transition projects seamlessly to GM team for execution.
Ad hoc renovation work dependent on brand landscape
Lead- coach and develop a direct report who can challenge the status quo- take big bets and act as an owner.
Create a pipeline of big bets and ensure stakeholder alignment at different stages of projects via leadership- US Growth Office- and cross-functional teams.
Build strong partnerships with all internal teams (Consumer Insights- R&D- Supply- Sales and Finance) and external agency partners (Creative- Media- PR- Design- Research etc.) to align everyone’s efforts towards a common goal.
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing- Business or related field; MBA preferred
10+ years of marketing experience covering various aspects of brand building
Strong business acumen and project management skills- with the heart of a marketer
Proven experience in core brand building role- managing large A&C budgets ($20MM+)
Proven track record leading breakthrough & disruptive innovation thinking
Proven knack of understanding consumers- separating insights from observations and leveraging them in day to day work
Strong leadership & stakeholder management up- down & across
Demonstrated drive for results and superior execution experience
