Job Summary:
Read meters, repair minor water leaks on meters, and perform cut ins and cut outs

using information and reports provided by Billing Clerk.

Specific Duties:
Read and enter meter readings in hand held electronic meter reading equipment.

Responsible for the care and security of electronic meter reading equipment.

Executes work orders generated by Utility Billing Clerk relating to customer water service cut ins and cut outs.

Provides support and information to Utility Billing Clerk concerning customer service issues.

Performs minor water leak repairs on water meters.

Reports any observed water or sewer related leaks or repair needs to the Director

of Utilities.

Essential Functions:
Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written communications

Ability to operate commercial telephones and a two-way radio

Ability to operate a variety of moderate to light power driven equipment

Ability to read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications and technical manuals

Ability to perform duties for extended periods of time in extreme weather

Ability to maintain a physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include walking, standing, bending or sitting for extended periods of time

Ability to maintain effective audio visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others and operating assigned equipment and vehicles

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull moderately heavy objects and materials up to 100 pounds

Required Education, Degrees, Certificates, and/or Licenses:
High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas Driver’s License

Class D Groundwater License and required successive licenses thereafter within time frame allocated by state regulations

Acceptable Experience and Training:
A combination of education and experience that indicates a level of skill and knowledge

necessary to fulfill the duties of this position may be considered in lieu of the education

and experience requirements listed above.
