P*RIME Pain Medicine *Instituteis seeking a licensed psychologist to join our team of clinicians in Capitola. We are a multi-disciplinary pain management practice providing treatment for a diverse population. We are firmly rooted in empirically-validated treatments tailored to meet the individual needs of our clients. PRIME Pain Medicine Institute has offices located in both Capitola and Salinas.
Expectations and Requirements
California license with a Ph.D./Psy.D. in clinical psychology with qualifications in assessment, clinical care, report preparation, and clinical supervision.
Experience in psychological assessment and treatment of chronic pain utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic relaxation skills, and other integrative approaches.
Individual and group therapy expertise in the following:
Mind-body techniques that control the effects of pain
Decreasing dependence on pain medications and interventional pain treatment
Developing and maintaining active pain management skillI
Applicants should be familiar with evidence-based modalities including but not limited to:
Psychophysiological - Somatic Relaxation Skills, Biofeedback
Cognitive – Cognitive Distortions and Restructuring, Addressing Fear Avoidance Behavior, Catastrophic Thinking, Locus of Control
Behavioral – Managing Stress Reactivity, Self-Care, Goal Setting, Behavioral Activation, Diet/Nutrition, and Exercise
Psychosocial – Coping with Depression, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, Building Social Skills, Effective Communication Skills, Vocational Goal Setting
Medication reduction approaches
Workers’ Compensation experience is a plus but not required - will train
Bilingual skills are of benefitbut not required
