TxDOT's Procurement Division is looking for Summer Support Technicians I or II based in Austin, TX and San Antonio TX.

Summer hire's title/pay is based upon:
Qualifications, High school or completed college hours and prior TxDOT experience (if any). Transcripts must be provided before hire is completed.

Rate of Pay will be $11.50 - $13.00 per hour, depending on completed college credit hours and qualifications.

TxDOT's Summer Employment Program provides current high school and college students the opportunity to gain valuable paid hands-on experience.

To qualify, students must:
Must be 17 years old

Be a U.S. Citizen or be eligible to work in the U.S.

Be enrolled as a full-time student at a high school, technical school, college or university the spring semester before the summer work period OR be currently accepted for enrollment at an institution of higher learning.

General Description

Performs essential accounting, human resources, purchasing or warehouse duties. Assists administrative staff in a variety of clerical-related work activities. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.

Duties

The essential duties for this job include:
Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.

Assists in maintaining confidential information and records. Maintains files/records/logs

Assists in performing inventory of materials, supplies and equipment.

Assists in processing routine documents such as vouchers, personnel records, titles or registrations.

Disseminates information to the public.

Makes copies and distributes as instructed.

Opens, sorts and distributes mail.

Performs preliminary research on assignments; gathers pertinent data.

Performs routine word processing duties; edits and proofs own work.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Competencies

The required competencies for this job include:
Administrative practices and procedures to include writing, editing and report writing techniques, recording meeting notes, record keeping and records management.

Preparing correspondence/documents using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation; proofreading and reviewing documents for clarity and consistency

Collecting, sorting and compiling data

The use of standard office equipment and the use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems
