POSITION SUMMARY

Tillster is seeking a seasoned, hands-on, "get-it-done, accurately and timely", Accounting Controller/Senior Accounting Manager for our high-growth, venture-backed, technology/ecommerce business environment, operating locally and globally. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the GL, and navigate time zones, cultures, and client organizations to maintain collection targets against complex contracts and associated invoicing. You will be responsible for continuous improvement cycles driving efficiencies into the closing process. New clients, markets, products and services – all impact the accounting cycle! You will leverage technology, appropriate to the Company's stage of development, to maintain a small, high-performing, efficient team. You must be dedicated to pro-actively engaging across the organization, at all levels, and providing accurate and timely information informing strategic and operational business decision-making. Minimum qualifications detailed below. Preferred skills include: 2+ years' experience in public accounting (big four firms); experience working in a venture-backed, start-up, high-growth environment; and, current CPA.

DETAILED ROLE & RESPONSIBIITIES…

Partner with CFO, VP – Finance, Key Stakeholders and Organization

  • Partner with the CFO in building and developing a high-performance Accounting team responsive to the needs of the organization and key stakeholders as well as the tools and infrastructure required to make this happen
  • Partner with the VP – Finance as appropriate, who is charged with leading a broad initiative to design, develop, and implement expanded management and financial reporting for the Tillster Group of Companies
  • Collaborate with key business partners as required, providing accurate and timely data, reporting, and analysis as needed
Leadership of Accounting Team

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for Accounting team, with responsibilities in AR, AP, Payroll, GL, etc.
  • Develop the individual Accounting team members, and the capabilities of the team through direct leadership, coaching and mentoring
  • Implement project based accounting controls, policies and processes
  • Hands-on leadership, guidance and accountability for all project/job cost accounting – including, but not limited to AR, AP, Payroll, month-end-close, and taxes payable
Strategic and Tactical Accounting; Reporting

  • Actively engage with the CFO, VP - Finance for the maintenance of the Company's annual operating and budgeting process
  • Own and manage monthly close process and creation of monthly financial statements; with monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reporting to the CFO and other key stakeholders
  • Prepare accurate, timely, systematic, and ad hoc reports and analysis for executive and functional leadership review as prescribed or needed
  • Actively assess and analyze business operations, formulating recommendations and implement solutions to drive operational efficiencies of the Accounting function and the organization
  • Manage all aspects of the audit process, with timely reporting to the CFO
  • Actively collaborate with accounting, taxation, legal, and other US domestic and international key business advisors and partners as appropriate
Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel between Tillster's business operations centers in Los Angeles, CA; San Diego, CA; and, Alpharetta, GA is a requirement
  • Other US domestic and international travel related to key customer and partner organizations as business needs demand
Systems, Controls, Policies, Processes, and Best Practices

In partnership with the CFO, VP – Finance, and other stakeholders:

  • Assess and establish accounting infrastructure to support expansion of US domestic and international business operations
  • Ensure existing financial systems, processes and controls maintain pace with our rapidly expanding product and customer portfolio
  • Identify and implement stage-appropriate and scalable systems, controls, policies, processes and best practices
  • Other duties as directed or required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in Accounting, or closely related field
  • Solid GAAP knowledge and experience
  • 7+ years of directly related work experience; with at least the last 2 years in a corporate Controller or Senior Accounting Manager position
  • Demonstrated expert-level Excel and financial modeling skills
  • Leadership – demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a small team
  • Demonstrated critical-thinking and analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proven accounting and systems skills
  • High-energy level; self-motivated; positive "get-it-done, accurately and timely" attitude and resulting behaviors
