**The department: **

**Responsible for providing financial support to Pearson Online Learning Services. POLS delivers post-secondary education primarily through partnering with academic institutions to design, launch and operate online programs. The POLS Finance team is a trusted business partner providing a deep level of commercial and financial support. We are responsible for month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, performance management and various forms of commercial analysis (as described below).**

**Responsible for $300m revenue growing at double digits. POLS currently has over 325 programs with 36 academic partners. There are over 1,200 members of the business team split across the US and Canada.**

**Main objectives of the role: **

**This role will partner with POLS leadership to assess portfolio performance and strategy, advise on capital allocation, evaluate new investment opportunities and new business models, and drive greater operational and financial results. In addition, this role will be a key contributor to budgeting and forecasting activities and will support framing strategy and narrative for discussions with senior stakeholders including Pearson’s CEO and CFO.**

**Collaboration, partnership and active stakeholder management are foundational to success in this role, as is being proactive and solutions-oriented with a strong results-driven work ethic.**

**Main activities and responsibilities: **

**•** **Support budgeting & forecasting by setting targets, communicating objectives, coordinating inputs across various functional teams and validating submissions.**

**•** **Drive efficient student acquisition through continual refinement of channel marketing strategy and lead conversion operational effectiveness.**

**•** **Track program profitability and use insight to inform capital allocation decisions.**

**•** **Create and maintain partner account management plans and align with business development go-to-market strategy.**

**•** **Develop KPI-based models to evaluate investment decisions regarding new program launches, existing program renewals and ad hoc business cases.**

**•** **Explore and structure new business models; conduct diligence and lead execution on strategic partnerships and M&A.**

**•** **Upskill business teams to apply a disciplined approach to ROI (e.g. lifetime value over acquisition cost, IRR, NPV, payback) to everything we do.**

**•** **Play a key role in developing POLS’ strategy including collaboration with Pearson’s Investor Relations, Strategy and Corporate Finance teams and discussions with senior stakeholders including Pearson’s CEO and CFO.**

**Qualifications**

Required

  • Proactive and solutions-oriented with a strong results-driven work ethic
  • 5 years of experience in finance at a corporation and/or top-tier investment bank, private equity firm, consulting firm or accounting firm
  • Superior financial modelling skills, commercial acumen and valuation experience
  • Ability and confidence to establish credibility and work across large, diverse teams to diagnose and resolve commercial and operational issues
  • Confident working under own initiative with maturity to serve as a strong team player when required; ability to handle diverse and ever-changing work load
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
Recommended

  • MBA or accountancy qualification
  • Background in EdTech and/or digital marketing fields
  • Experience with subscription business models
  • Ability to interpret, structure and negotiate legal agreements
  • Capability with advanced data analytics, coding and/or data visualization (e.g. Tableau)
