The National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA), the national trade association representing the producers and suppliers of concrete masonry products, is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, motivated and highly qualified Communications and Content Specialist.

The Communications and Content Specialist will develop content and messaging targeted at NCMA members as well as the users of manufactured concrete products. This latter audience is broad, and includes architects, designers, contractors, building owners, and more. The primary focus of these communications is to promote the attributes of manufactured concrete products and the Communications and Content Specialist will package technical resources to be understandable, exciting, and visually appealing. The Communications and Content Specialist provides the opportunity to develop and influence the market communication strategy of NCMA in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the association. This position will report to the Vice President of Business Development.

We are committed to helping you grow in this position. Responsibilities for the successful candidate in this position will include:

  • Develop effective pieces for communication to NCMA members and external audiences to promote the use of member products. Examples include annual reports, meeting recaps, promotional brochures for association resources and services, case studies and other items as needed.
  • Develop content, such as press releases, articles, presentations, promotional advertisements and other marketing literature and publications. Identifies effective communication delivery mechanisms to deliver messages.
  • Manage content on the NCMA website. Effectively works with all staff to update content and online delivery mechanisms for website information. Tracks analytics relative to NCMA website.
  • Manage NCMA email communications program. Responsible for developing e-News brief on a weekly basis. Supports communications efforts of other staff through mass emails.
  • Maintain consistent themes and messaging for NCMA communications. Manage consistent and attractive graphic designs for NCMA promotional materials. Maintains NCMA brand guidelines and ensures adherence to those guidelines.
  • Support NCMA committees as well as assists in coordinating and implementing association forums at NCMA meetings.
  • Identify and develop new methods of communications with target markets.
  • Develop and maintain methods to measure the effectiveness of association communications. Develop strategies to measure success and communicate this to NCMA membership

The Communications and Content Specialist is expected to manage assigned projects by identifying needs, developing plans and scope of work, engaging stakeholders, coordinating internally and externally, and, as appropriate, soliciting funds and managing finances to achieve goals. This position will also support other Business Development Department activities such as membership recruitment and retention, identifying revenue-generating opportunities, and leveraging the services and resources of the association.


Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field, along with a minimum of three to five years of experience.
  • Ability to show a portfolio of work that features high-caliber copy integrated into a variety of campaigns
  • Excellent communications skills and experience in communications, promotion, and content development
  • Demonstrated ability for technical, creative, and marketing writing
  • Strong conceptual skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Strong grasp of language and grammar
  • Strong copy editing
  • Self-starter and capable of working at a fast pace on many different projects
