The VP of Risk Management leads EssilorLuxottica’s Enterprise Risk Management (“ERM”) process and leads traditional risk management process for Luxottica operations in North America. Directly partners with European Parent on Master Insurance Programs and in furthering global risk management strategies in areas such as supply chain risk, business continuity, vendor risk management, and contract management. Oversees and is responsible for ERM reporting to Audit and Risk Committee of the Board of Directors. Responsible for Risk Management support in all due diligence in mergers and acquisitions and major business initiatives. Managerial responsibility for accounting for self-insurance reserves and actuarial analyses used in evaluating adequacy and compliance with IFRS, IAS and GAAP. These functions are performed for EssilorLuxottica North America groups. Leads a team of 7 Risk Management professionals.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads ERM process for EssilorLuxottica North America (identification, reporting, monitoring and special projects related to major risks).
Advises all retail, wholesale labs and corporate departments on risk matters (OneSight missions, business continuity and data breach emergency response).
Works with European Parent in coordination of global master insurance programs (D&O, cyber, cargo etc.)
Oversees Risk Management budget of approx. $20 MM and departmental budget of $1.5 MM.
Leads support & guidance with Captive insurance company activities.
Provide guidance on insurance coverage issues for complex claims such as class action litigation. Includes working with outside counsel as advocate in finding insurance coverage (environmental, personal injury, advertising injury, managed care organization errors and omissions and optometrist professional liability)
Responsible for IFRS, IAS and GAAP accounting standards related to discounting of self-insurance reserves, including review of actuarial details and adequacy.
Leads Risk guidance on contractual risk transfer provisions contained in significant contracts (intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, pollution legal liability etc.)
Directly partner with European Parent to aid in managing the purchase of insurance globally.
Leads Risk guidance and support for due diligence in transactions including, mergers and acquisitions and divestitures of businesses. Support business through analyses of risks assumed/retained, cataloging of insurance policies. Aid in analysis of program costs and optimal way to transition and consolidate functions/coverages as efficiently as possible.
15+ years experience and demonstrated record of accomplishments in risk management and insurance.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
Experience with a retail organization
Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter or Associate in Risk Management preferred
