GSI’s proven franchise model continues to sell itself and, due to continued system growth, our Legal team is looking to add talent.

Staff Counsel is a cross-functional attorney who works with all business groups and across multiple legal disciplines. Among other things, Staff Counsel handles contract review, drafting and negotiation, regulatory compliance (franchise), data privacy and security issues, and system policies and procedures. The successful candidate is passionate, collaborative and demonstrates a commitment to excellence through daily interactions with all stakeholders.

Note: This position does not handle litigation in-house.

Day-to-day counselling and advice to the business to identify issues and manage risk across multiple legal disciplines (franchise, employment, privacy and data security, regulatory)
Identifying, analyzing, researching, negotiating, and resolving legal and business issues in company contracts, and making appropriate recommendations to business and Corporate Counsel
Managing franchise contract administration, including the Franchise Disclosure Document, and the Franchise Agreement and related documents
Monitoring and managing franchise-related enforcement
Reviewing and revising company and franchise system policies and communications to ensure compliance with the law and company standards
Work with outside counsel to manage litigation and claims involving the company
Conduct legal research and monitoring developments for relevant topics
Prepare and conduct training for franchisees, directors and corporate employees
J.D. from an accredited law school
Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania
2-5 years’ experience as an attorney working in a law firm or corporation, preferably with franchise, transactional and employment law experience
Business acumen and good judgment required
Up to 5%; as needed to attend conferences, conventions, etc.
