The Barking Lounge strives to be the cleanest, safest, and friendliest dog daycare and boarding facility in Seattle. In our facility pooches romp and play all day under the supervision of our trained and passionate Dog Wranglers. Strong applicants will have previous experience with dogs and be excited about providing superior customer service to our two-legged clients. Applicants should wish to be a part of the best dog care team in town, be ready to learn new skills, and be prepared for a fast paced and fun work environment.

  • Be coachable and open to feedback
  • Be friendly, welcoming, & respectful to team members and clients (two-legged and four-legged!)
  • Be eager to learn about dog breeds and dog behavior
  • Be willing and able to inform pooch parents how their dog's day went.

**Note: We are only authorized to hire folks that are at least 18 years of age.**


  • Clean up after dogs in the pack immediately (entails not being grossed out by dogs doing their business!)
  • Ensure safe pack interaction and play
  • Maintain cleanliness of facility (kennels, play areas, etc)
  • Dog bathing & nail trims (but not haircuts)
  • Must be available to work holidays (it's the busiest time of the year for us!)


  • Scrub and sanitize kennels and facility (requires use of industrial vacuum and floor scrubber machine)
  • Be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Be able to stand on your feet 8 hours a day
  • Repeated bending (to pick up poo) and mopping (to clean up pee puddles)


  • Scent Sensitivity. While we believe in maintaining a spotlessly clean facility and our ventilation & HVAC systems have undergone recent upgrades, our beloved canine clients are still little fur & dander machines! See also Chemical Sensitivity.
  • Chemical Sensitivity. For the safety of our team members and our clients it is essential we maintain a spotlessly clean environment. While we provide & require use of appropriate personal protective equipment, our use of veterinary grade cleaning products may present a challenge for individuals with scent chemical sensitivity.
  • Noise Sensitivity. While excessive barking is avoided, barking is a common occurrence in groups of happy playing pooches.


We care about developing and supporting a strong team. We conduct regular performance reviews (within the first few months of hire and then annually) to discuss development and wage increases that may be appropriate. Participation in Seattle Paid Sick and Safe Time Program begins immediately and after a trial period team members are eligible to receive paid vacation / personal time off benefits. Team members receive dog benefits and retail discounts. Our management team works hard to recognize effort and strong performance of everyone on our team. As a result, we promote entirely from within so there is plenty of opportunity for growth and learning. Starting wage begins at $15.50 an hour - or more, depending on level of experience.


While we prefer full-time candidates, great part-time candidates would be considered as well. However, to support proper training, we are only seeking candidates that are able to work at least 3 days per week. Our Day crew shifts on weekdays are 6:30am -2pm and 12:30pm -8pm. On weekends they are 7am -1:30pm and 12:30pm -7pm. Must be comfortable working holidays, they are often our busiest time of the year.
