The American Express Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C) team is a strategic function that works to enhance and protect the American Express brand through public relations, social media and content development, colleague communications and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The Director, Colleague Communications, will drive the internal communications strategy and activities for American Express’ Enterprise Digital & Data Solutions (EDDS) business. EDDS powers the world's best customer experience and revenue growth through innovative data, digital and marketing products and solutions. The business works closely with other divisions of American Express to develop customer-facing digital experiences, acquire new customers, develop and execute MarTech and data solutions, and more.
The person in this role will develop and execute colleague communications strategies for the EDDS business and its leaders to build understanding of the business’ priorities and strategy. They will be responsible for developing content ranging from newsletters, memos, internal intranet content and presentations, as well as supporting the planning and execution of senior leader town halls, internal forums, and other colleague engagement events. They will collaborate with teams in the Colleague Experience Group (HR), legal, and finance functions, as well members of the global CA&C team to bring to life enterprise-wide campaigns and initiatives.
This role reports to the Vice President, Digital Innovation & Technology Communications, and is based in New York.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Develop and execute colleague communications designed to drive engagement and foster connection to the vision and strategy of senior leaders.
Devise creative ways to enhance the look and feel of written content, multimedia and in-person events.
Think strategically about how to best leverage available communications channels, including colleague intranet sites, Slack, and email, to drive content engagement.
Create engaging follow-up content and recaps from colleague events.
Support the rollout of corporate and global programs and initiatives, including reward and recognition campaigns, leadership development activities and innovation awards.
Partner with CA&C colleagues across geographies to drive coordination and consistency in global communications.
Write and edit the Executive Vice President (EVP) of EDDS’s communications to colleagues, including announcements, video scripts, remarks, and other strategic communications as needed.
Assist with the development and execution of project plans for leadership meetings and colleague town halls, including pre- and post-event communications as appropriate.
Provide project management and content/editorial support for various EDDS-owned Summits held throughout the year.
Support communications for the EDDS EVP’s forums with colleagues, including roundtables, Q&A sessions, and other engagement events.
Plan and execute submissions and recognition of EDDS colleagues in support of the company’s premier award programs.
Provide data management and measurement to enhance the effectiveness of colleague communications.
Determine metrics and manage reporting for town halls, leadership forums, colleague roundtables, and other events.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 8 -10 years of experience in managing colleague communications programs.
Demonstrated experience leading and driving internal and senior executive communications.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while pushing a variety of projects through to completion.
Exceptional writer who is able to communicate clearly and effectively across a variety of formats, tones, and audiences, including interpreting technical information into language that is understandable by and compelling to target audiences.
Expert in the use of MS Office products, especially Word and PowerPoint, and able to develop graphics and visual design in support of colleague communications.
Experience in producing creative events for a large global organization using a variety of multimedia formats.
Strong knowledge of colleague communications delivery platforms and measurement tools.
Strong project management experience and relentless attention to detail.
Self- starter with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional collaboration skills and an ability to build relationships with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
Effective leadership with excellent judgment and people management skills.
Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualification
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
