The Assistant General Manager [AGM] is responsible for assisting and learning from the General Manager in the implementation and maintenance of Best Practices to ensure the overall profitable management of the property, which includes revenue optimization and management, sales, budgetary cost saving measures, and staff management.
The Assistant General Manager is a highly visible member of the property’s Leadership Team and serves as a key liaison for hotel guests and functions as a right hand to the General Manager, while concurrently supporting Front Office Operations and other operating departments such as Housekeeping/Laundry, and Food & Beverage. They will work in a hands-on capacity to maximize the overall efficiency and profitability of the hotel.
Working in close partnership with other department heads, the AGM is accountable for directing and coordinating the resources, tasks, requirements, systems and processes related to the hotel’s day-to-day operations, and for creating an energized and positive work environment that results in the delivery of exceptional guest service.
- Oversee hotel operations to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for guests to enjoy and where associates can excel. Get out from behind the desk to observe guest experiences and staff interactions. When complications surface – and they will – make it right for the guest and open channels for associates.
- Build and Foster Front Office Staff. Create an environment that’s engaging, where motivated people want to join, learn, do their best, and advance. Lead a diverse team by modeling the way, by empowering, and coaching throughout the employment lifecycle.
- Team up with Sales. Brainstorm and implement occupancy and revenue boosting strategies.
- Keep a pulse on operational and financial performance. Actively participate in the budget process, and accurately forecast for optimal staff and supply levels, maximum flow-through, and exceptional guest experience
- Act as Manager on Duty, when duty calls.
- Be available to cover shifts as needed.
Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
