M.C. Dean is seeking two summer interns to support its Marketing & Communications department. These paid positions offer experience at a large engineering and technology company based in the Washington, D.C. metro area. M.C. Dean provides large-scale systems and systems integration solutions for state and local governments; federal, defense and national security clients; and Fortune 100 technology, healthcare and industrial corporations.

The marketing and communications team is enhancing the company's brand and digital presence during the coming year to support client marketing and employer branding programs. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates to gain cross-disciplinary experience including strategic marketing and market intelligence, branding, web development, social media, media relations, internal communications and corporate social responsibility within a dynamic team.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing & Communications Intern (Tysons, VA)

Responsibilities:
Support for market intelligence, competitive analysis and market segmentation research and reporting efforts
Research, tracking and analytics support for integrated marketing communications campaigns
Researching, writing, editing and coordinating content for the firm's website, intranet, social media sites and other materials
Assisting with promotions, events, client meetings and any other special projects
Assisting in the maintenance of the firm's website, including preparing content for upload and design of web-based materials
Collaborating with executive, technical and marketing communications team members in the preparation of content and/or graphics for digital or print-based materials

Required Qualifications:
Previous work or internship experience
An eagerness to learn fast, work hard and produce quality work
The ability to operate successfully both on independent assignments and as part of a team
Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines
A willingness to handle routine, repetitive tasks
Problem-solving and resourcefulness to tackle more complex and substantive work

Required Skills:
Strong writing and editing skills
Demonstrated analytical skills with research experience
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Availability to work full time (at least 40 hours/week) during the summer

Desired Skills/Qualifications:
Knowledge of Associate Press style guidelines
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and basic HTML
Experience with data/statistical analysis tools such as SPSS, R, Matlab, Statistica or Stata
Experience with traditional media and social media distribution and tracking tools and Google Analytics
Preference will be given to graduate students, undergraduate seniors or recent graduates

Candidates should have or be seeking a degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Public or International Affairs, Economics, Journalism, English or a similar field. Research-oriented candidates with degrees in Mathematics or other technical fields also are encouraged to apply. All candidates must complete a writing assessment as part of the interview process.
