About the Role: The ideal candidate will be a seasoned construction management professional versed in industry best practices, yet also looking to improve on the inefficiencies that plague the AEC industry.
Each Construction Manager works in partnership with a Design Manager and Project Manager to lead Enterprise project execution teams. This leadership team manages our design and construction professionals to steward projects through completion and handoff to operations. The Construction Manager ensures that the vision is executed to the highest standards, meeting our client's creative and business goals.
The Construction Manager will report to the Construction Director, PxWe.
Be a key client-facing member of the project execution team, working closely with Design Managers and Project Managers.
Review and advise on constructability and coordination from the beginning of each project, considering both construction and the overall life of each project.
Advise during pre-construction and bidding, manage cost and progressive budgeting to lay foundation for successful construction. Support cost estimating and bidding processes, utilizing BIM.
Support reality capture and existing conditions documentation, due diligence activities, and understanding of potential base building issues or unique conditions.
Analytically consider critical path decisions and construction methods to maintain schedule, budget, safety and quality.
Proactively flag any issues that may arise during a project, take ownership of them, and work together with your team internally to resolve them
Communicate regularly to management and the project team with project updates such as the status of each project, upcoming benchmark goals, potential issues, etc.
Serve as day-to-day contact for internal and external project team members regarding construction, regularly reporting on construction progress, risks, and schedule/budget exposures.
Work closely with an internal team of Logistics Specialists to ensure smooth project handovers to building operations teams, while simultaneously overseeing punchlists and project closeouts.
Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, architecture, construction management (or relevant/equivalent experience)
7+ years of construction experience, including corporate interiors, high-end retail, hospitality, or similar projects, as well as substantial collaboration with design and project management teams
Minimum 3 years managing client relationships including participation in client meetings throughout the design and construction process
Understanding of construction best practices, fast-track methods, building codes, ADA, OSHA, and other industry standards such as Lean Construction or Pull Planning techniques
Full knowledge of creating and maintaining progressive budgeting and scheduling
Familiarity with design and construction technologies and platforms, such as BIM, reality capture methods, and construction/project management software
Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Schematic design, Design Development, permitting Strategies, Construction Documentation and Administration, sharp focus on Project Closeout.
Analytical in approach when evaluating construction progress or obstacles and provide solutions to stay on schedule and minimize cost impacts
Understanding of project budgeting and scheduling and the ability to communicate and work closely with clients and external consultants to ensure that project milestones are being met and deliverables are on-time and complete
Experience with all stages of development including due diligence, design, bidding, contract management, and closeout
Self-directed with a high level of initiative and a "can do" attitude, but open to feedback and a strong desire to learn
Excellent time management skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills
Excellent decision-making skills and a highly resourceful problem solver
Proficient in the following programs: All things Google, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Project, Smartsheets, Microsoft Suite products.
