Job Description Summary

The Senior Mortgage Risk Analyst supports the Mortgage Risk Management team in providing risk analysis, reporting and hedging for the Mortgage Servicing Rights Asset (MSR) and Single Family mortgage pipeline. This includes long term and ad-hoc projects related to the hedging of the MSR asset and Single Family mortgage pipeline. Incumbents provide technical and quantitative skills to maintain hedging strategies, understand risks of mortgage assets and provide reporting to management on hedging activities.
Job Details

Primary Functions :
Produce regular reports and analysis for the Mortgage Risk Management team, senior management and HomeStreet Board of Directors.
Back up MSR hedging activities.
Research new products and assist in the implementation of new hedge products.
Lead for Commercial Loan Swap program on the Mortgage Risk Management team.
Understanding of internal and third party risk models. Work with technology or outside vendors to communicate requirements when developing systems or processes related to risk management.
Manage external reporting requirements regarding interest rate risk analysis required by bank regulators.
Manage large, long term projects efficiently and independently.
Ensure maintenance of and compliance with an effective control environment including participation in Sarbanes-Oxley efforts.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Math. MBA, CFA, and/or FRM or progress toward these degrees / credentials strongly preferred.
Minimum 4 years of experience in hedging, risk analysis, financial analysis or related experience required.
Knowledge of Capital Markets and risk concepts (duration, convexity, etc.)
Proven ability to perform complex analysis involving application of statistics, calculus, option theory, and other quantitative concepts.
May be asked to work a varied schedule as job demands require, East Cost business hours as assigned.
Ability to formulate original solutions based on creative, objective, and logical analysis of facts and to persuasively present finding to management.
Goal minded and team-oriented.
Ability to think strategically and to formulate sound balance sheet management policies.
Computer literate with strong PC skills, prefer prior experience with QRM, Polypaths, SQL or Excel VBA
Proven verbal and written communication skills as well as experience preparing and delivering financial presentations with the ability to target audiences appropriately.
Familiar with asset/liability risk management systems.
Ability to work independently

Mental and Physical Considerations:
Able to operate a Personal Computer and view information on a monitor.
Must be able to sit for many hours each day.
Must be able to communicate via telephone and possess dexterity to include filing document, reaching and bending.
May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift or carry up to 10 pounds
Ability to speak and understand English and express ideas and have difficult conversation in person and over the telephone
Ability to listen and comprehend speech.
Ability to problem solve, make decisions, interpret data and information, read, write and organize information in an orderly manner.
Willing and able to travel occasionally as needed.
