Tech Support Specialist

As a technical support/helpdesk employee, you would be monitoring and maintaining the computer systems and network within our Maitland Call Center. If there are any issues or changes required, such as forgotten passwords, viruses or email issues, you’ll be the first person employees will come to.

Tasks can include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware/software faults and solving technical problems, either over the phone or face to face

As a Tech Support Specialist, you may also be known as a helpdesk operator, technician or maintenance engineer.

Some tasks you may be involved in include:

  • Working with employees to identify computer problems and advising on the solution.
  • Logging and keeping records of employee queries and updating Sysaid Help Desk.
  • Analyzing logs etc. so you can spot common trends and underlying problems
  • Updating the Knowledge Base software.
  • Testing and fixing faulty equipment and any other duties as requested.

Required skills

As well as a strong technical background, we would want you to be able to explain complex information in simple, clear terms to a non-IT personnel. Additionally, we will be looking for:

  • Ability to deal with difficult users
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge
  • Good interpersonal skills

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in IT or Technical support role
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel and Exchange
  • Working knowledge of basic networking
  • CompTIA A+ certification a plus
