Process & Equipment Manufacturing Engineer

Manufacturing line engineer in the Aluminum Die Cast Manufacturing Department responsible for improving production line productivity/efficiency in order to make positive impacts to: safety, quality, cost, delivery, morale, new model. Also responsible for all operation characteristics in the Casting products for Customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Support daily on-line troubleshooting for safety, quality and delivery problems
  • Perform time estimates, equipment loads and develop standard operation standards
  • Train associates on new or modified process changes
  • Monitor production processes and work methods
  • Collect, compile and analyze production data to identify opportunities to improve production processes
  • Maintain the process related documents and operation database to assure high quality output
  • Train and lead trial runs during process changes and/or new model changes
  • Conducts audits to ensure compliance with model specifications
  • Assists line-side as needed if problems arise
  • Works with production, new model and other engineering departments to ensure a balanced process occurs
  • Handles unusual situations independently
  • Daily go to the spot reviews of process & product with shift to shift communication to understand real time issues and concerns
  • Analyze product & process data to establish root cause
  • Develop & implement countermeasures to reduce the repetitive problems related to safety, quality & productivity
  • Develop & implement activity plans for projects and rotate PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Action) including budget, spec., schedule, management, start-up, evaluations, and presentations
  • Achieve daily quality & efficiency targets, develop activities to exceed the target
  • Communicate effectively with production & management associates
  • Perform statistical analysis on data / analytical troubleshooting skills

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering / Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials, Manufacturing or related)
  • Minimum of 3 months of co-op/internship in manufacturing environment or relevant manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Some knowledge of the following preferred: Microsoft Office, CATIA, Minitab SPC, Matlab C Coding, OSHA standards, Maynard MOST, production systems, cognitive workload and logistics
  • Demonstrates some skill in: Presenting, technical writing, communication and organizational skills, 3D and 2D CAD software. Ability to convey manufacturing concepts to associates, ability to be perform advanced mathematics
  • Work with diverse support groups (production associates, contractors, suppliers)
  • Manage multiple projects and meet schedules - leadership qualities
  • Self motivated - self managed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications
  • Ability to read & understand technical drawings / CAD or related experience
  • As required support off-shift and weekend department activity
  • As required travel domestically and internationally to support department activity
  • Aluminum foundry - high efficient mass production manufacturing environment - heavy equipment
  • 5-10 hours/ week of overtime expected
  • Travel: Dependent on project activity. Day trips for seminars & contractor visits to 1~2 weeks international trips for potential new model.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 /year
