Job Summary
Provides financial decision support to Corporate Operations Vice Presidents, Market Vice Presidents, Market Pharmacy Directors, District Managers and Pharmacy Supervisors. The Senior Manager, Finance will provide day-to-day finance and long-term value creation oversight and support to a $15B region. This role will be responsible for providing financial expertise, business support and oversight to a designated geographic region and the corresponding set of markets to assist in achieving key value creation objectives, and will guide management on financial-related matters and decisions. Contributes to the development and execution of business priorities by participating in cross-functional joint issue identification, analysis and resolution at the corporate level. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the execution of a variety of business planning, performance management, investment evaluation and coaching activities. Responsible for the management of 6-8 in-market Finance Managers and the indirect management of a pool of Senior Analysts. Provides day-to-day financial support to 1 Corporate Vice President of Operations, 1 Executive Pharmacy Director, 7-8 Market Vice Presidents and 7-8 Market Pharmacy Directors. Accountable for the planning and execution of business performance reviews, business planning and other strategic initiatives for assigned Regions and Markets. Responsible for monitoring, reviewing and assisting with the development of Regional goals, budgets and strategies that align with the Company’s value creation objectives. Guides the valuation of in-market business opportunities and ensures proper business case development in-line with management’s fiscal objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Creates and delivers periodic regional business performance reviews to COVP, EPD, MVP & MPD including but not limited to: Monthly Operating Performance Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, P/L reviews and day-to-day root cause / exception analysis. Involves evaluating financial and operational results, monitoring data and contributing to the development of key initiatives. Oversees the creation and delivery of market-level business performance reviews and analysis delivered to MVPs, MPDs, DMs & RxS’s including but not limited to: Monthly Operating Performance Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, P/L reviews and day-to-day root cause / exception analysis.

Conducts regional financial evaluations of proposed projects and investments by gathering assumptions, making financial projections using discounted cash flow principles and ultimately creating regional business cases that substantiate the rationale for investments. This may include analysis, financial modeling or review of pre-prepared financials for new store stores, acquisition candidates and the like. Oversees market-level evaluations of proposed projects and investments, ensuring discounted cash flow principles substantiate the rationale for investments.
Partners with the COVPs, EPDs, MVPs and MPDs to maintain a strong understanding of the key business drivers of the region, specific business processes and priorities, and future strategic direction of the region. Ensures the Market Finance Managers are effectively partnering with MVPs, MPDs, DMs & RxS’s to maintain a strong understanding of the key business drivers of the markets and districts, specific business processes and priorities, and future strategic direction of the markets and districts.
Provides financial support and guidance to a COVP, EPD, MVPs and MPDs for the target and goal-setting processes. Oversees the financial support and guidance provided by Market Finance Managers to the MVPs, MPDs, DMs and RxS’s.
Oversees strategy development in the context of the Market Plan to Win process by providing financial direction, forecasting and analytics in development / support of identified opportunities. Directly supports the COVP and EPD with regional strategic themes and analysis, and oversees the Market Finance Manager’s involvement in the process.
Responsible for overseeing the delivery of financial acumen training content to all levels of the regional Leadership Team (COVP, EPD, MVPs and MPDs).
Collaborates with regional / market supervision to leverage existing financial and operational analytics and tools to drive better outcomes. Ensures the Market Finance Managers do the same for their markets and districts.
Responsible for ensuring the assigned region and associated markets are kept informed of broad economic trends and development.
Collaborates with corporate team members to support market / district supervision’s financial analysis needs.
Develops and fosters a cross-functional team approach, providing financial management support to senior management within Operations and Community Management. Contributes to the development and execution of regional business priorities by participating in corporate-level cross-functional joint issue identification, analysis and resolution.
Addresses issues with appropriate teams to develop plans of action. Identifies opportunities to improve processes and practices. Works with business and functional teams to develop consistent management reporting and processes.
Leads the preparation of financial forecasts, targets and budgets, including the identification/quantification of risks and opportunities; involves facilitating the negotiation and agreement of key metrics and inputs. These targets are the basis for Performance Management measurement and enable Pay for Performance within Community Management.
Oversees periodic analyses of variances compared to target, plan, forecast and prior periods for the region and markets.
Responsible for the direct management and development of 6-8 in-market Finance Managers and the indirect management of a pool of Senior Analysts.
Oversees monthly In-Market financial reviews and periodic business planning sessions linking the evaluation of financial and operational results with the development of strategic initiatives.
Manages the analysis of various Regional investments and substantiates rationale for projects through business case development.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years experience in Finance or Accounting or High School Diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience in Finance or Accounting.
Experience with financial modeling, profitability analysis and/or auditing techniques.
Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing, organizing and delegating multiple projects with varying completion dates.
Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using SUM function, setting borders, setting column width, inserting charts, using text wrap, sorting, setting headers and footers and/or print scaling).
Intermediate level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: applying a theme, formatting character spacing, inserting a picture, changing slide layout and theme colors, adding transitions, customizing slide numbers, changing chart style and/or formatting font).
Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: inserting headers, page breaks, page numbers and tables and/or adjusting table columns).
At least 2 year of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets.
At least 2 years of experience of direct leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting, or MBA
At least 5 years experience with financial modeling, profitability analysis and/or auditing techniques.
