ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: NGA Research seeks an R&D Scientist to serve as Technology Action Officer (TAO). The TAO will assist the Research senior leaders with a full range of technical and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient and effective operation of the Research organization and ensure mission success. The TAO must be a self-motivated, detail focused, highly capable, critical thinker to provide oversight to key coordination activities in support of both tactical and strategic operations for the Research organization. Specific duties of the position include: * Provide direct technical and executive support to Research senior leadership. * Assist Research senior leadership in developing organizational goals, objectives, strategy, and priorities. * Work closely with Research senior leadership on strategic development of key processes, procedures, and communications that facilitate program planning and execution. * Capture follow-on actions and monitor their execution to sustain strategic efforts and ensure mission success across Research and NGA in support of Research leadership goals. * Capture follow-on actions and monitor their execution to sustain strategic efforts with external partners including government agencies, industry, private sector, and academia, in support of Research leadership. * Ensure strategic program planning is coordinated among Research management staff. * Work closely with D/DD to plan and orchestrate Research off-sites, town halls, meetings and events including content development, speaker coordination and alignment of agenda with strategy. * Act as a liaison on behalf of the D/DD to all other NGA Executive Leaders and Key Components to ensure the Research perspective is accurately portrayed and fully considered. * Work closely with Research senior leadership to coordinate across NGA with other Executive Leaders and Key Components to exchange information and resolve complex problems. * Represent Research at other government agencies outside of NGA. * Work closely with Research senior leadership to coordinate across the IC, DoD and NGA to exchange information and resolve complex problems. * Maintain situational awareness of agency-level issues to enable proactive and contextual support to the D/DD. Anticipate and frame issues, assess risks and devise solutions, keep management apprised of high priority issues and requirements. * Exercise a high degree of originality and good judgment in accomplishing responsibilities that contribute significantly in guiding and shaping the future of the Research organization. * Communicate with Research staff to convey D/DD intent with respect to Directorate strategy, research program design, proposals, approvals, reviews, and execution, as well as intra-and inter-agency collaboration. * Plan and coordinate program initiatives for the D/DD; ensure their technical rigor and alignment with Heilmeier criteria. * Provide guidance to Research staff in development of programs with special attention to technical rigor and alignment with Heilmeier criteria. * Ensure Research Director (D) and Deputy Director (DD) are well prepared for technical and executive meetings and decision making by drafting executive summaries, talking points, read-aheads, and executive correspondence, and verifying the sufficiency of such materials prepared and provided to the D/DD by others. * Responsible for all Research correspondence. * Provide ad hoc support for other additional functions required by or assigned by the D/DD. * Apply excellent communication skills to extensive cross-group coordination at all levels across Research and NGA. This position is eligible for a RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE: The selected candidates may be offered a recruitment incentive as part of the offer of employment, based on budget availability. To receive the incentive, the selected candidate must sign a service agreement for up to 2 years depending on the approved amount of the incentive. If the employee leaves before the end of the service agreement, the employee may be required to repay a pro rata share amount of the incentive to the government.

NGA utilizes all processes and procedures of the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Non-executive NGA employees are assigned to five distinct pay bands based on the type and scope of work performed. The employee's base salary is established within their assigned pay band based on their unique qualifications. A performance pay process is conducted each year to determine a potential base pay salary increase and/or bonus. An employee's annual performance evaluation is a key factor in the performance pay process. MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or a related discipline that includes 24 semester (36 quarter) hours in Science, Mathematics and/or a related Engineering Science. Such coursework includes, but is not limited to, Astronomy, Cartography, Chemistry, Computer Science, Dynamics, Electrical Engineering, Geodesy, Geography, Geology, Geophysics, Geospatial Information Systems, Mathematics, Orbital Mechanics, Photogrammetry, Physics, Remote Sensing, or Surveying. Although not mandatory, coursework in differential and integral calculus is preferred. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of college education in any areas listed in option A plus experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of college work is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals to 4 years.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired:
