Performs Polysomnography on a variety of patients. Evaluates patient charts. Implements Sleep Lab protocols. Reviews sleep study data. Maintains equipment. Provides documentation and uses troubleshooting skills.
1. ADMITS PATIENT TO SLEEP LAB Criteria A:
Sets up bedroom with appropriate equipment and recording devices ADMITS PATIENT TO SLEEP LAB Criteria B: Provides patient with an introduction to the testing procedure ADMITS PATIENT TO SLEEP LAB Criteria C: Hooks up patient in a timely manner ADMITS PATIENT TO SLEEP LAB Criteria D: Provides patient with am/pm questionnaires and verifies they are completed
2. EVALUATES PATIENT CHARTS Criteria A:
Reviews patient charts and evaluates each patient’s history and diagnosis and notes pertinent medical information EVALUATES PATIENT CHARTS Criteria B: Anticipates patient needs and/or expected complications EVALUATES PATIENT CHARTS Criteria C: Assigns bedrooms based on A & B EVALUATES PATIENT CHARTS Criteria D: Notifies clinician of any discrepancy
3. IMPLEMENTS PROTOCOL Criteria A:
Sets up patient according to lab standards IMPLEMENTS PROTOCOL Criteria B: Sets up computer systems, calibrates equipment, compiles patient information, and obtains proper documentation from patient IMPLEMENTS PROTOCOL Criteria C: Monitors patient and Documents throughout the study IMPLEMENTS PROTOCOL Criteria D: Interprets information and executes appropriate flow of action
4. REVIEW SLEEP STUDY DATA Criteria A:
Provides clinician with documentation from the sleep study REVIEW SLEEP STUDY DATA Criteria B: Scores sleep study according to Rechtschaffen & Kales (R&K) criterion REVIEW SLEEP STUDY DATA Criteria C: Identifies specific abnormalities or patterns (e.g. seizure activity) REVIEW SLEEP STUDY DATA Criteria D: Reviews study with clinician and documents patient compliance
5. MAINTAINS EQUIPMENT& TROUBLESHOOTING Criteria A:
Calibrates all ancillary equipment MAINTAINS EQUIPMENT& TROUBLESHOOTING Criteria B: Provides patient with appropriately sized equipment (e.g. masks, headgear, respiratory belts, cannulas, etc.) MAINTAINS EQUIPMENT& TROUBLESHOOTING Criteria C: Recognizes equipment dysfunction and/or artifact and corrects or modifies recording MAINTAINS EQUIPMENT& TROUBLESHOOTING Criteria D: Exercises judgment when interrupting patient’s sleep to correct recording problems
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
7. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of accredited sleep modules and 1 to 6 months experience.
RPSGT registered or will attain within 1 year of hire. Experience in patient hook up, recording nocturnal and/or daytime Polysomnography. Excellent troubleshooting skills and documentation. Experience in Sleep Scoring. Experience in CPAP and/or Bi-Level PAP titration.

Full-Time 36 hours Evening/Night. This position is based on self schedule made at least six or more weeks in advance.
