Yokogawa is seeking to hire a Field Service Technician.

This is a Field Service Technician job within Yokogawa's Advanced Analytical Field Services. The field position is a customer facing role that requires 5-7 years field experience, preferably on process instrumentation including, but not limited to, GC’s and Gas Analyzers, in a plant environment. The incumbent is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of process control systems or subsystems and strategies that deliver customer satisfaction. Primary focus will be troubleshooting, repair, software/hardware enhancements, modifications and expansion of existing instrumentation and supervisory system.

PRIMARY TASKS:
Works effectively in both an individual and team environment.
Leads or sub-leads large or complex instrument projects, including those involving advanced automation technologies. Is responsible for all technical aspects of successful project delivery, including appropriateness of application designs, supervision of the project team, and meeting delivery schedule. Lead or sub-lead activities include but are not limited to, being responsible for accuracy and completeness of all instrument project raw data, drawings, databases and documentation.
Diligently monitors for unintended project scope creep and reports change order opportunities appropriately.
Serves as a technical resource for Proposals and Sales support activities, such as demonstrations, preparation of prototypes and generation of cost estimates and proposals.
Utilizes knowledge of multiple Yokogawa product lines to conceive and promotes solutions, which integrate Yokogawa systems, other Yokogawa products as well as 3rd
Works independently or directs a team, which conducts field surveys, complies data, designs automation functions, and prepares reports for various activities such as customer proposals, FEED studies, and project design and test documents.
Demonstrates knowledge of industry standards and emerging practices that apply to control systems and to automation in general.
Participates in in-house and external training and learning activities as directed by the Division Manager.
Serves as a personal example of frugal and efficient time management, and reports time promptly and accurately as required by company policies.
Understands, follows and continuously promotes safe work practices.
Travels 50-75% of the time.
Proactively enforces Yokogawa procedures (ISO, GES, Safety, etc.) and project work methodologies for all engineering activates. Participates in the creation and maintenance of Yokogawa work procedures.
Design digital and analog process control loops, along with associated operator interfaces.
Documents the process control system and its field interface, along with the operator interface and the engineering utilities.
Develops and uses test procedures for process control applications both in factory and field settings. May evaluate competitive systems for their capabilities and features.
May evaluate, trouble shoot and repair process control instrumentation for applicable process applications, reliability and ease of interface.
Uses and may recommend process control instrumentation with an understanding of its principles, operation, limitations, and interface requirements.
May design and validate data communication and interface systems during field startup, including the interpretation of other vendors’ panel diagrams and the tracking of signals through complicated interconnections, and resolution of problems encountered.
May design and provide training in the use of the process control equipment or/and system for the customer and engineering staff for configuration and documentation.
Completes all service orders, reports and documentation required to provide full and complete evidence of service.
Responsible for performance to applicable ISO 9000 requirements.
Responsible for providing uncompromising quality to all work processes in designated area of responsibility. Has the authority to stop those work processes in designated area of responsibility. Has the authority to stop those work processes at any time it is believed quality is being compromised
Responsible for assisting in the training of new hires including training materials, observation, testing, and mentoring.
Responsible for continued growth of other technical specialists in areas of specialty.
Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications: Position requires willingness to be on call 24 hours a day for emergency response, as well as extended assignments up to four (4) weeks away from home office/base.

Also, willingness to accept assignments at Yokogawa headquarters or affiliates, (for training or instructional purposes), is required as standard part of responsibilities.

Education: Requires AS degree in instrumentation, or demonstrated competency. NCCER certification preferred

Prior Experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in the design, implementation, and evaluation of process control systems, or demonstrated experience through long-term site assignment is required.

Travel: Must be willing to travel extensively for job assignments, maintain a rapport with customer representatives, and be dedicated to quality, service, productivity, and customer satisfaction
