GDIT is seeking a full time Associate Scientist to perform activities associated with disposition of analytical chemistry laboratory analysis for a client in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will work as part of a team performing chemical analyses for a wide variety environmental contaminants, biomarkers and metabolites in biological samples.

Duties will encompass responsibility for sample receipt and accessioning, preparation, analysis and reporting for diverse analytical methods including GC, LC, GC-MS, LC-MS and related technologies. To succeed in this position you must be detail oriented and able to rigorously follow approved methods; keep detailed records; and follow all regulatory and safety requirements to affect delivery of high quality analytical results. This will include keeping of sample, instrument, and analysis logs as well as monitoring and reporting on testing status as well as laboratory supplies inventories.

The incumbent will be a member of a diverse team of chemists, laboratory technicians, and QC/QA specialists responsible for ongoing analyses, methods development and other laboratory activities required for successful project execution. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of compliance with CLIA, ISO, ACAP, and other industry standards and best practices and experience working in a regulated laboratory environment.

Responsibilities
Receives, records, and stores specimens per approved methods and policies adhering to all required regulatory and safety procedures
Prepares samples in accordance with study procedures and approved methods and protocols.
Performs routine chemical analyses in accordance with approved protocols and according to planned schedule
Compiles test results and communicates to supervisor in a timely manner
Maintains reagent and supply inventories
Performs routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments according to approved schedule and procedures.
Maintain all required inventory logs, sample logs, test records, instrument logs, maintenance logs, and methods records as required by regulatory requirements and client policies.
Uses approved methods, including LIMS or other database systems, to record and report on all laboratory activities
Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Control activities including performance of reagent and supply validation; instrument validation; and quality control results review.
Adhere to CLIA and ISO practices as well as OSHA and organizational safety requirements
Collaborate with team members on method, process, and test procedures to affect a culture of continuous improvement
Adhere to all federal regulations regarding the handling of clinical information
Comply with all client and GDIT requirements for laboratory safety and security
Strong communication (written and oral), computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, medical technology, biology, environmental science, or related discipline
0+ years laboratory bench experience with working knowledge of routine analytical chemistry methods and technology including liquid-liquid and solid phase extraction; chromatography; and UV and Visible spectroscopy and mass spectrometry
Ability to work successfully as part of a team with strong interpersonal skills
Self starter with ability to work independently with general guidance from supervisors
Well-organized and detail oriented
Able to multitask and operate effectively within a diverse and dynamic work environment
Preferred
BS degree and 2 years or M.S. degree in chemistry, medical technology, biology, environmental science, or related discipline
Hands on experience with LC, GC, and mass spectrometric analysis technologies
Knowledge of laboratory and safety regulations including CLIA, ISO, and/or OSHA standards
Active certification by one or more recognized laboratory services professional organizations
