This role reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Financial Reporting and Analysis, and will support financial reporting and internal controls for manufacturing operations throughout the United States zone. This role calls for strong business partnership with finance, operations, and manufacturing contacts at a variety of levels, including corporate supply chain planning and manufacturing plant controllers, and oversees all accounting related to supply chain losses and inventory reserves. Key opportunities for enhancement include developing inventory analytics to identify risks and to ensure inventory reserves are accurately reflected, influencing without authority on a variety of inventory control clean-up projects, and identifying processes that can be standardized, automated, and/or outsourced to a Shared Service function.
The following are key projects that will be owned and executed:
Refine, manage, and communicate all accruals related to supply chain losses.
Provide accounting guidance to both accounting and non-accounting colleagues.
Define and implement process improvements for closing with accuracy and efficiency.
Improve the clarity of documentation and insights gained from account reconciliations and Sarbanes-Oxley controls pertaining to inventory cycle counts and reserves.
Closely interface with internal and inventory control teams to learn existing processes, identify gaps, and work to standardize across the various manufacturing plants.
Review accounting policies and propose revisions or additional content to clarify requirements and guidance based on US generally accepted accounting principles and the operations of US manufacturing facilities.
Oversight of plant financial controls to include at least the following:
Audit manufacturing accounting entries performed by individuals outside the US Controllers department.
Perform occasional plant visits to learn local processes and propose improvements for standardization and efficiency.
Drive visibility across plant controllers and finance colleagues to standardize controls, action plans, and remediation efforts.
Develop new reporting mechanisms, using Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, and/or advanced analytics, to identify and effectively communicate risks related to inventory in the US zone.
Execute other ad-hoc requests to support manufacturing accounting and manufacturing finance.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA required
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
Minimum of four years of experience, including public accounting experience (with emphasis in SEC engagements) or manufacturing accounting with cross-functional experience
Ability to effectively lead, manage, and prioritize multiple projects, while effectively operating in a fast-paced, complex, global organization
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills
Outstanding analytical, teamwork, customer service, and leadership skills
Experience with SAP preferred
Experience with technical accounting a plus
