Position: Survey Field Technician
Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an entry-level Survey Technician in our Crystal Lake, Chicago, Mokena, or Naperville offices. Under immediate supervision, the survey technician will assist in locating and determining a portion of the earth’s surface by planning, conducting, and recording field data for a diverse range of surveys.
Operate survey instruments and equipment for a wide and diverse range of projects such as, topographic, ALTA, boundary, construction, etc.
Locates and determines land by measuring and calculating points, elevations, lines, angles, areas, and contours; contributing information to and from software and hardware used by B&W Survey Department
Assists the party chief and field crew with recording surveys by preparing notes, records, drawings and applicable field equipment/hardware and software systems
Completes projects in a timely, efficient and effective manner within deadlines and budgets.
Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Minimum of a High School diploma. Associate's Degree in Land Surveying or related curriculum preferred.
Enrolled in or willing to enroll in accredited land survey program with ability to obtain Professional Land Surveyors license upon completion of educational requirements
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to walk and stand for an entire day, if needed.
Ability to travel throughout northeast Illinois and southeast Wisconsin areas (own transportation)
Strong math, written, verbal, and organizational skills
CST (Certified Survey Technician I-IV) accreditation is a plus
AutoCAD Civil 3d and/or Microstation experience is a plus
Illinois or Wisconsin Driver’s License
