Roechling Industrial Cleveland has been a pioneer in commercial fiberglass products with its primary business including the production of semi-finished sheet, rod and profile stock for fabricated components in electrical equipment and infrastructure, and thermal insulation for common plastic, rubber and oil and gas processing. We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Specialist at our South Euclid, OH plant.
The Safety, Health, and Environmental Specialist is responsible for the leadership, development and continuous improvement of the company’s health, safety, and environmental programs, procedures, training, and work practices for all employees. They will actively participate in all aspects of our Safety program, while interacting with Engineering, Operations and Planning, to implement acceptable systems to ensure compliance and conformance to Safety, Health, and Environmental policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Document and report activities in: EPA, Safety, and ISO functions as required by QC Manager.
- Monitor and audit hazardous waste and recycled reactive diluents from Operations.
- Maintain all training for Safety and EPA records for the facility.
- Provide support to the ISO 9001:2015 process via audit activities and recordkeeping.
- Ensure all required inspections and monitoring activities are executed and documented in accordance with compliance.
- Support activities to identify opportunities and execute projects to drive continuous improvement in Safety, Health, and Environmental areas.
- Work off shift (2nd or 3rd) in the event business events require.
- Keep records of all incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
- Ensure regular inspections are done on all building safety equipment (safety showers, eye wash, fire extinguishers, etc.).
- Maintain stock of safety supplies, such as safety glasses, cleaners, etc.
- Ensure that safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
- Coordinate and participate in First-Aid, CPR and AED training.
- Manage emergency evacuation program.
- Manage Hazard Communication Program.
- Maintain and ensure all applicable employees are up to date on tow motor and scissor lift training.
- Conduct investigations into workplace accidents and provide corrective action as necessary.
- Provide safety orientation for all new hires.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to organize and present information both formally and informally.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and possess the desire/ability to drive change.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of ERP systems and databases.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and polices.
- Must be certified or working towards certification of OSHA (30 Hours).
- Possess the skills to create and present training for employees.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, such as but not limited to: Environmental Health and Safety, Chemistry, or Engineering.
