Job Purpose:
The NDT Technician is responsible for performing inspections, primarily ultrasonic, utilizing a variety of non-destructive testing methods on company aircraft and components.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the tests using the procedures and methods to determine maximum quality of the product
- Perform inspection duties, organize, and generate reports pertaining to inspection and evaluation
- Prepare reports on all testing and evaluations to the appropriate department
- Ensure that the equipment used for testing is functioning correctly and in accordance with all applicable safety regulations
- Perform daily system performance tests on equipment to ensure compliance with NDT standards
- Interpret and perform cleaning procedures prior to NDT Inspections
- Additional duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience with aircraft related NDT (ultrasonic required)
- Must be able to provide documented proof of previous training and qualification to meet the requirements on NAS 410 level II in the following methods:
- Ultrasonic (required)
- Fluorescent Penetrant (preferred)
- Eddy Current (preferred)
- Magnetic Particle (preferred)
- 2-5 years + experience working in manufacturing/maintenance facilities
- FAA A&P License is required
- High School education or GED required; some college is preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend written materials, write legibly, and perform basic math calculations accurately
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to:
- Crawl in and out of tight spaces
- Comfortably work at elevated heights of at least 40 feet for extended periods of time
- Lift, balance and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Work in enclosed hangars and exterior weather conditions
