The City of Aurora is seeking highly motivated and talented individual for an opportunity in the Recreation Division. The Recreation Gymnastics Assistant teaches/coaches young gymnasts and assists the Gymnastics Coordinator with administrative tasks. Responsibilities include knowledge and experience in gymnastics instruction in a city wide Recreational gymnastics program that ensures quality customer service and a unified approach to gymnastics in the City.
$18.00/ Per Hour

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Gymnastics Assistant – Gymnastics is engaged through challenging assignments, opportunities to grow programs according to the needs and desires of the Citizens of Aurora and the ability to grow valuable, lasting relationships in a dynamic work environment.
Leads by example to ensure excellent customer service for participants in City of Aurora gymnastics programs and by providing high customer service standards and ensuring a high level of accountability to meet those expectations.
Teaches & coaches a variety of youth gymnastics classes for children ages 4-16 years of age.
Assists the Program Coordinator in developing programs and implement a city wide gymnastics program for all age groups.
Assists the Program Coordinator with staff recruitment and scheduling, Recreation Guide programming, E-Time Card administration and gymnastics programming.
Supervises contingent staff in the absence of the Program Coordinator.
Serves as the Program Coordinator in the absence of the Program Coordinator during vacation and/or extended out of office circumstances.
Assess the condition and functionality of gymnastics equipment in use and makes recommendations to the supervisor to ensure that the equipment remains safe, functional and up to date.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/ GED
1 year of Gymnastic experience (Preferred)
- An equivalent combination of training, education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of gymnastics and programming, development and administration; comfortable working knowledge of personal computer and related software applications of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point and Access.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens; handle sensitive and stressful situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to recognize, analyze, and implement absent gymnastics systems; ability to work a flex schedule that is inclusive of mornings, evenings and weekend hours.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Colorado Driver's License with good driving history. May require additional certifications related to assigned function. This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
Light to moderate physical work, the ability to lift a maximum of 20 pounds; may require some lifting, carrying, walking & standing; occasional hand/eye coordination; vision to ready & interpret written material; frequent speech communication & hearing to maintain communication with class participants and other staff.
Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment
