In this position, you will work specifically for Gale, part of Cengage’s international business supporting libraries. Gale has a long history in Detroit where it started as a reference publishing company in the 1950’s. What You'll Do Here:
You, as the UI Developer, will craft how users interact with and ultimately experience our applications. You'll bring both the technical chops and attention to aesthetics/detail needed to challenge the status quo and deliver an unparalleled experience.

Work closely with the Product and Technology teams (consisting of Product Managers, Developers, UX Designers, and Marketing) to build flexible front-end solutions while constantly maintaining a high level of detail and quality.
Work well independently and as a member of a team.
Aggressively develop and improve all aspects of the User Interface, including: design, CSS, HTML, accessibility, responsiveness, and experience.
Deliver quality code and improve existing code.
Ensure the Accessibility compliance of our applications.

Skills You Will Need Here:
You have an online portfolio full of your work (code, websites, projects) that you are excited to share.
A dedicated and result-driven mentality with experience self-managing scope in a fast-paced agile environment.

Proficiency with:
JavaScript (React is a bonus)
Experience developing for disabled users and familiarity with WCAG 2.X standards.
Familiarity with Sketch & InVision preferred.
You have experience defining, implementing and working with corporate design standard methodologies and web standards
Undergraduate degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Visual Design, Web Design, Interactive Media, Computer Science, or a related technical field or 5+ years of equivalent practical experience.
