Mechanical Engineer III
The Professional Systems Division is looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer interested in applying their skills in a fast paced, dynamic learning environment. Flexibility, agility, and curiosity are key characteristics of the technical personnel we are seeking to hire.
As an Engineer you will be a member of or lead a multi-discipline product development team which will develop products from concept to production.
Plans, organizes and conducts medium/large projects. Develops and applies advanced engineering theories, and methods in the investigation and solution of complex technical problems. Conducts investigations or tests of considerable complexity pertaining to the development of new products, exploration of equipment, product, and/or process problems, definition and selection of new concepts and approaches in product development. Reviews project progress and evaluates results; recommends corrections to ensure project objectives. Specifies the manpower, equipment, materials, and supplies required for completion and implementation of technical projects. May evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. Recommends revision of specifications when indicated. Formulates or assists in formulating engineering policies and procedures. Responsible for applying engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and using advanced engineering techniques, modifying and extending theories, concepts, practices, and disciplines. Independently makes decisions on engineering problems and methods to effectively achieve objectives set by the department. Recognized as a specialist within an engineering discipline specific responsibilities: May act as an individual contributor and member of multi discipline project team, achieving results by directing others or thru own actions.
- Actively demonstrates skill in risk management and risk mitigation
6 or more years’ experience in the mechanical design and development of consumer and/or commercial products; must have an understanding of the design rules for plastic injection molding and metal forming, as well as for DFM/A; proficiency in use of solids modeling required, NX preferred. Must have ability to apply creativity, sound engineering principles, and hands-on execution to effectively solve problems; ability to construct or modify hardware parts or models with some proficiency in the use of simple hand tools also valuable.
Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline gained through a formal four-to-five year college program. Master's degree desirable.
