Essential Functions
California's largest family planning provider is looking for an energetic and caring Medical Assistant to work in our AAAHC accredited facilities in Canoga Park and Mission Hills.

Our current opening is for 18-26 hours per week, Fridays and Wednesdays in Canoga Park and Saturdays and Sundays in Mission Hills. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Spanish, willing to drive between the two locations, and work weekends.

The Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to keep the clinics running in an efficient and professional manner.

Clinical Duties:
Instructs and assists patients in pre-operative and post-operative procedures and care.
Uses appropriate aseptic technique during performance of tasks.
Transfer patients to and from exam table, positions patients for surgical procedures and assists with transport to appropriate areas.
Collects and reviews data, including vital signs and diagnostic test reports.
Performs clinical tasks including venipuncture, phlebotomy, medication administration and specimen collection/handling according to policy and procedure.
Documents legibly and accurately in the patient's medical record, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Responds to emergencies in a calm and supportive manner.
Maintains compliance with competency requirements (in-service and clinical skills).
The MLP Medical Assistant will directly assist the Mid-Level Provider.

Administrative Duties:
The maintenance of the work area to keep in a state of readiness including orderly stocking of supplies.
Daily cleaning and equipment checks.
Maintain filing systems.
Maintain a safe work environment.
Assist coworkers for maximum efficiency.
Participates in appropriate in-service activities.

Customer Service Duties:
Supports FPA Women's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy.
Responsible for driving the FPA culture through values and customer service standards.
Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.
Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma required.
Current CPR Certificate required.
Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILS

Bilingual in Spanish is required.
Willing to work in both Mission Hills and Canoga Park.
Willing to work weekends.
Front and back office experience preferred.
Must have excellent customer service skills and be committed to providing the highest level of customer service.
Ability to diplomatically communicate and interact well with patients, staff, and volunteers.
Demonstrate mature judgment, initiative and critical thinking.
Complete tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to read and implement written instructions.
