The Purchasing Analyst will conduct analysis to drive improved profitability across all product lines and sales channels. This position will have a heavy focus on forecasting and purchasing but will also provide ad-hoc analysis as priorities shift. This position will drive execution and consistency of our direct-to-consumer and business-to-business strategies. The Purchasing Analyst will develop new analytics and models to evaluate margin opportunities as well as develop purchasing metrics. This position is highly dependent on cross-functional collaboration with multiple areas of the organization including: Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Purchasing, Marketing and Finance. The Purchasing Analyst will be quantitatively adept, analytical, and have a track record of converting raw data into actionable business insights.
What you'll be doing
These are the current duties and responsibilities, which may be adjusted depending on priorities and business needs.
Responsible for analysis and communication of SKU level forecasts in all business channels for all product lines
Collaborate with the Business-to-Business Sales group to build a plan that aligns to overall company goals and objectives
Execute regular reporting on forecast accuracy, volume/price/cost impact and financial impact of future changes, identifying areas of concern
Build scenario models to quantify the potential contribution impact of changes to our product assortment, cost and pricing
Utilize advanced forecasting techniques to predict future demand and shipments of product for all sales channels
Oversee inventory to minimize back orders, overstocks, and cancellations while maintaining inventory levels that meet company objectives by partnering with Sales and Manufacturing to develop action plans based on business analysis
Conduct ad-hoc analysis to build business cases to support margin opportunities and formulate tactical implementation plans to achieve
Execute tasks comprising of buying and materials planning for assigned commodities/parts.
Accountable for planning and executing a specific set of part numbers or commodities to maintain proper materials flow within metric targets
Works through ERP/MRP and other planning systems to identify material needs daily and prioritize tasks based on production and requestor and supplier leadtimes
Act as main liaison for supplier on day-to-day issues including delivery and pricing/invoicing issues
What you need
A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field and 3-5 years analyst experience; or a combination of education and experience is required
Financial Reporting & Forecasting experience with a hardlines focus and a background in lawn and garden; outdoor living; and/or outdoor power equipment is desirable
Self-motivated, results driven, high energy, takes initiative; functions well in a semi-structured, entrepreneurial environment
Ability to problem solve with ambiguity
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and the ability to learn new software/web-based applications
Experience working with outdoor power equipment preferred, particularly within a manufacturing environment
Ability to be flexible in dealing with change, accountable, sticks to deadlines
