The Legal Affairs Counsel Intern provides assistance to Turner’s in-house counsel for the Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Canadian Business Units. Candidate to work out of office located near the Carrboro North Carolina town center. Internship is paid.
Regional Legal Affairs Counsel
Essential Duties & Responsibilities*:
Assist in developing contract risk analysis
Assist with legal drafting
Research construction related topics within multiple jurisdictions
JD degree in progress (2L) with an emphasis on construction law topics including, contract, real estate, tort and insurance topics.
Ability to work approximately 10 hours per week during the spring semester and approximately 40 hours per week during the summer.
Self-starter, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver high quality work on tight deadlines. Proven written and verbal communication abilities with emphasis on problem solving and negotiation, with ability to explain complex legal concepts to employees and staff at all levels.
Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite, insurance-based RMIS systems, and various legal case management systems. Ability to read, understand, and interpret contracts and insurance documents. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with staff at all levels, both internal and external. Ability to travel.
