JOB OVERVIEW
Fast DMS has an immediate need for applicants to fill the role of Mechanical Assembly Technician at its Tempe, Arizona headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
Mechanical Assembly Technicians at Fast DMS are responsible for careful mechanical, and sometimes light electrical assembly and documentation for each assigned project. Mechanical Assembly Technicians have a high degree of ownership and autonomy regarding customer projects and are expected to complete tasks with persistence, care, and detail.
ASSEMBLY
You will be required to have and continually expand your knowledge of manufacturing, quality, and assembly processes. A large part of the value you will provide is figuring out how to execute assembly processes with continually improving consistency and control.
- Significant amount of discipline, attention to detail, and patience to ensure consistent and quality deliveries.
- Select suppliers that best fit the capabilities required for the work you’ll ask them to do.
- Intake customer’s requirements and building out the project plan to those requirements is another part of this position.
Fast DMS encounters many types of assembly. This will include things like:
- Bearing pressing
- Torquing fasteners
- Installing rivets
- Working with the robotic welders
- Using adhesives
- Building cables
- Installing PCBs
- Setting backlash
- Using quality forms
- Photo documentation
TEAMWORK
You will be a key member of our assembly team, which will mean you’ll be responsible for a significant amount of teamwork. You must be a team player. You must be able to listen to the rest of the team and ask questions until you understand the project needs.

Bonus Requirements
- MIG and/or TIG Welding
- Weld inspection
- Robotic welder programming
- Robotic welder operation
- Experience with 3D and 2D CAD
- Experience working as a mechanical engineer or technician at a company with a manufacturing emphasis
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Comfort and familiarity with specialized tools found in a manufacturing environment, such as mills, lathes, vernier calipers, etc
- 2- or 4- year degree or certificate in a manufacturing field
AUTHORITY
You’ll have an opportunity to work with as much autonomy as you can handle. Your target will be to understand and be able to contribute to any assembly project we have and to operate the robotic welder. You’ll have no direct reports, but will be a part of a 20 person team and will have help in many areas. The Fast DMS team will be able to help and train the manufacturing specific knowledge you’ll need.
CONDITIONS
This position is full time, in person, first shift at our warehouse in Tempe, AZ. Teamwork is extremely important and there are daily requirements for getting your hands on parts.
At Fast DMS, the nature of our work often necessitates employees to be physically active. This role involves frequent customer and supplier site visits where safety and active awareness are paramount. Our operations, especially in locations with challenging conditions like the Arizona summer heat, demand resilience and adaptability. While on site, employees might engage in hands-on assembly and manufacturing activities to better understand and contribute to the value Fast DMS provides. Candidates are encouraged to be prepared for an active role to ensure efficient operations and team collaboration.
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be salary and DOE with a quarterly profit share.
Health insurance is through Blue cross blue shield. Vision and dental are through Delta Dental.
Vacation and sick time is as needed with management approval and within reason.
