Care Partners assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
$5,000 Sign-on Bonus Available (former employees must be separated from Vanderbilt University Medical Center for a period of more than 12 months to be eligible)
Night (7 pm - 7 am) Shift Available
Self-scheduling for 3 12 hours shifts a week, total of 36 hours
The Transitional Care Unit (TCU) is a new unit focused on initiating care of clinic patients requiring admission as well as assisting the Emergency Department with their overflow of boarded patients. The TCU encounters a diverse patient population every day!

Assist with the delivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
Assists with day to day delivery of patient care.
Facilitates efficient and safe patient care and flow by following work area standards.
Serves as a liaison for communication and education of patient and family needs.
Supports unit operations and patient flow by maintaining supplies, equipment and unit environmental standards.

CLINICAL COMPETENCIES (NOVICE):
- Demonstrates sufficient fundamental proficiency to assist and perform clinical care including but not limited to vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection and point of care testing as directed by unit standards.
CARE PARTNER PATIENT DOCUMENTATION (FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS):
- Has limited experience or training working with clinical applications for patient documentation.
ENVIRONMENT OF CARE (FUNDAMENTAL AWARENESS):
- Has limited experience or training working with set up and maintenance of patient exam rooms, supplies and equipment.

Position Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and:
1) Current enrollment in a program of professional nursing RN and successful completion of first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals clinical, or
2) Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program, or
3) Min of one year previous experience as a care partner or nursing assistant/technician.
Physical Requirements/Strengths needed & Physical Demands:
Heavy Work category requiring exertion of 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 to 20 lbs. of force continually to move objects.
Lifting over 35 lbs: Raising and lowering objects from one level to another, includes upward pulling over 35 lbs, with help of coworkers or assistive device
Carrying under 35 lbs: Transporting an object holding in hands, arms or shoulders, with help of coworkers or assistive device.
