The CUMC Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratory is a rapidly expanding CLIA-certified Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) and Clinical Toxicology Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. The Laboratory has a position opening for a dynamic individual with significant understanding of measuring therapeutic and illicit drugs, who able to work in a complex, fast-paced environment.

The candidate will work as a Laboratory Technologist. The candidate will conduct High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) assays for therapeutic and illicit drugs in support of patient care as well as assist in developing and validating new assays.

The individual will perform complex laboratory procedures in order to analyze clinical samples; this will require extensive, accurate, and efficient hands-on work, operating, maintaining and troubleshooting complex instrumentation, attention to detail, strict adherence to protocols, maintaining extensive and accurate documentation.

The incumbent is expected to work efficiently and should be able to determine the most effective use of time, such as overlapping procedures, organizing an individual work schedule, and setting priorities in order to meet required tum-around times (TAT). The incumbent is also expected to perform other duties, including some administrative ones. Weekend hours may occasionally be necessary.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
