The Ohio Department of Education, Office of School Sponsorship, is seeking a customer focused, school improvement driven, analytical and detail-oriented individual to serve as a sponsor representative providing technical assistance to the Department’s sponsored community schools.

Major Responsibilities & Duties:
On behalf of the Office of School Sponsorship provides oversight, technical assistance, and monitoring of community schools sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education in the following areas:

Recommends and implements office policies and procedures and guidelines for monitoring and providing technical assistance to sponsored community schools;
Implements office policies and procedures and guidelines for evaluating the performance of sponsored community schools on a monthly an annual basis;
Provides specialized program assistance to sponsored community schools;
Monitors sponsored community schools for compliance with ORC and OAC and requirements of the community school contract with the Department;
Serves as the primary contact for multiple sponsored community schools;
Analyzes data to determine deficiencies and areas of need for sponsored community schools;
Conducts site visits to sponsored community schools on an as needed basis but not less than three site visits per year per community school that consultant serves as the primary contact;
Attends by phone or in person governing authority meetings for community schools that consultant serves as a primary contact and acts as Sponsor liaison during governing authority meetings;
Drafts reports of progress and data collection results for sponsored community schools;
Assists in evaluating sponsored community schools and reports on progress and status of sponsored community schools to OSS board;
Assists in evaluation of applications for sponsorship, renewal and continued sponsorship of community schools and presents recommendations to the OSS board;
Provides and/or arranges training to sponsored community schools on various aspects of community school operations, best practices, and sponsor expectations including reporting requirements for sponsored community schools;
Performs other duties as assigned, related to the administration of the school sponsorship program.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of a graduate core program in one of the following areas (i.e., education, social sciences, public administration, psychology, organizational development, public policy); and 3 years demonstrated experience including at least three of the following to include 2 years demonstrated experience in student level accountability, assessment, and curriculum working for a traditional school district or charter school:
School improvement initiatives focused on increasing student performance working for a traditional school district or charter school
Evaluation & research which may include internet, database, publication, and market analysis related to academic improvement
Instituting best practices & initiatives within an organization and/or assisting outside entities with implementation of best practices and initiatives
Tracking, analyzing, and synthesizing trends related to educational entities.
Classroom instruction, administrative, or sponsor experience
Analyzing and summarizing public or community school finance reports (e.g., monthly financial reports, Auditor of State reports, FTE reports)
OR Completion of an undergraduate core program in one of the following areas (i.e., education, social sciences, public administration, psychology, organizational development, public policy); and 4 years demonstrated experience including at least three of the following to include 2 years demonstrated experience in student level accountability, assessment, and curriculum working for a traditional school district or charter school:
School improvement initiatives focused on increasing student performance working for a traditional school district or charter school
Evaluation & research which may include internet, database, publication, and market analysis related to academic improvement
Instituting best practices & initiatives within an organization and/or assisting outside entities with implementation of best practices and initiatives

Starting compensation for this position is non-negotiable at $27.02 hourly/$56,201.60 annually with the opportunity to advance in pay after 6 months.

Requires travel throughout State of Ohio & may require overnight stay. Occasional evening or weekend hours might be required. (Must be willing & able to secure a valid Driver’s License OR supply your own transportation).

The final applicant for this position will be required to submit urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to an appointment. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year.

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check as well as other investigative reviews.
