Harmony and Rodale Books, a division of the Crown Publishing Group, seeks a Publicist or Senior Publicist, depending on candidate experience level, to join its dynamic publishing team to represent authors and books across a range of categories, including diet, health, fitness, wellness, spirituality, relationships, and cooking. You will develop and execute all aspects of assigned publicity campaigns.

Responsibilities:
Working creatively with managers to craft and implement campaigns for each assigned title, which would be approximately 20-25 titles a year
Writing press and promotional materials including pitch and galley letters, press releases, author Q&A’s, etc.
Developing and maintaining close working relationships with members of the press (broadcast, radio, print, online, etc.)
Researching and seeking out new media outlets, and brainstorming creative ideas on how to best publicize titles including online and podcast publicity opportunities
Strategizing media lists and organizing media mailings.
Creating local and national pitches for print, tv, radio and online campaigns, specific to each title.
Scheduling author appearances and tours.
Maintaining consistent and supportive contact with authors.
Close collaboration with editorial, marketing, subsidiary rights and sales counterparts
Servicing media requests.
Updating managers with progress reports on each campaign

Requirements:
Candidate must have a minimum of 4 years book publicity experience and experience managing publicity campaigns independently
In addition to traditional broadcast and print media experience, position requires experience in the online media space, including bloggers and podcasts
Candidates should demonstrate a creative, innovative and resourceful approach to publicity
Possess strong media relationships and knowledge of diverse media outlets, including online and social media
High-energy and passionate, possess exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability successfully manage multiple priorities
