Full-time (40 hours/week)
Do you have passion for curiosity, discovery, and inspiring others? Do you love connecting with people and engaging with visitors of all ages and from around the world? Are you an animal lover who wants to work with a variety of creatures (including some that aren’t often considered “cute) providing their daily care? Then you might be the perfect person to join our Animal Care team at Pacific Science Center!
As an Animal Caretaker, you would be responsible for the feeding, cleaning and general husbandry of the museum’s live animal collection. You’ll be working with butterflies from around the world, a local simulation tide pool, a colony of naked mole rats and more! Your job will take place both behind the scenes and alongside the public, so we’re looking for someone who is interested in sharing their passion for animals with our guests.
In addition to directly taking care of the animals, you will also work with staff and volunteers training them in proper care and handling of some of our collection. You may even have the opportunity to help shape a future animal exhibit. As an organization that seeks to nurture excellence in our people, we offer a range professional development opportunities to help you achieve your goals in this position and beyond.
This is a full-time position, in general you would be working 40 hours a week, with shifts typically from 8:30am-5:00pm. Since animal care needs to happen every day, you can expect to work at least one weekend day as part of your regular schedule. This is a benefitted position, including a generous medical and dental package as well as paid time off. In addition, by joining the Pacific Science Center community, you will receive our full membership benefits that include free passes to IMAX films, Laser shows, Science Lectures, and more!
