Description of Position
The HR Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for personnel and school administration for all matters related to Human Resources including but not limited to staffing, compensation, retirement, workersâ compensation, leave administration, benefits and assisting the accounting department with the processing of payroll. Responsible for maintaining employee files, HRIS systems and mandatory reporting. In addition, will advise and assist school administration in recruitment and onboarding efforts. This position will be a direct report to the Chief Operating and Financial Officer. The following provides additional responsibilities:
Compliance & Audit:
Prepares employment agreements and reports data as required by State and Federal Agencies
Ensures compliance with required legal postings
Responsible for Live Scan
Maintains relationships with recruiting agencies
Develops employee job descriptions, posts job, screens candidates and coordinates interviews
Onboard new hires and provides new employee orientation
Employment Policies and Administration:
Maintains I-9 documents and HRIS system of employee information
Assists support staff with various record-keeping and reporting systems
Files and monitors workersâ compensation claims and assists in light duty job placement
Training and Communications:
Informs employees about internal policies, requirements, and legal prerequisites
Coordinates and ensures compliance with mandatory and supplemental training
Compensation and Benefits:
Responsible with CFO for brokering employee group health insurance options
Enrolls employees and eligible dependents in group health insurance and COBRA coverage
Serves as Administrator for retirement fund, performs informational sessions and enrollment
Prepares salary reports for salary and benefit budgeting
Advises employees regarding medical leave of absences and other protected leaves
The ideal candidate will have the following background and qualities, or comparable experience:
Confidentiality, professionalism, honesty and integrity
Skillfully communicative with strong interpersonal skills
Proactive, detailed, good organizational skills, and strong time management abilities
Knowledge of HR processes and experience with HR databases and HRIS systems
BA/BS degree required. Education focus in HR Management, Business or School Administration, Psychology or related field preferred
5+ years of HR experience required, school experience a plus.
