The MHS Patient Service Representative is the first point of contact for current and potential patients seeking support from MHS and its providers. This individual sets the tone for the patient experience and will leave a lasting impression on those with care needs. As a member of the patient service team, this individual is a service champion.

The customer service representative possess the following characteristics:

  • Positive and upbeat personality
  • Ability to multitask between phone calls, in-person questions, and a busy practice
  • Pays attention to detail
  • Practices HIPAA best practices, and adheres to related policies and procedures
  • Confidence in addressing frustrated, ill callers and patient representatives
  • Works collaboratively with healthcare providers and administrative staff
  • Willing to coach peers and colleagues on best practices
  • Dependable, efficient, and strives for excellence
  • Capable of working within a team

The five primary areas for performance evaluation will include:

  • Ability to positively engage with patients and other callers on the phone
  • Effectiveness and efficiency in building a productive, balanced provider schedule
  • Collaboration with MHS Patient Service Team
  • Adherence to HIPAA best practices, policies, and procedures
  • Positive contributions to the MHS culture and ability to exhibit The MHS ExperienceDesired


  • Prior experience in a medical scheduling/customer service role
  • Associate’s degree, or equally relevant professional experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA practices
  • History of cross training in multiple roles within healthcare administration
