Insight Systems Corporation is seeking a Communications and Outreach Team Digital Media Assistant for Feed the Future Knowledge-Driven Agricultural Development (KDAD) Project. This is a Full-time assignment, based in our Washington, DC office.

The digital media assistant provides support and communications expertise to the USAID Bureau for Food Security (BFS) through the USAID Knowledge Driven Agricultural Development project, and will perform a variety of both complex and routine communications duties. Working in support of the BFS Communications and Outreach Team and BFS Front Office, the incumbent will report directly to the contract communications manager for the BFS portfolio and to the BFS communications director while on site.

The digital media assistant will support the communications director and digital lead in crafting and disseminating compelling messaging and multimedia content via digital platforms and social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Storify and YouTube. The Digital Media Assistant will stay abreast of the current trends in digital communications and advise the team on technologies, platforms, and specific campaign ideas. The digital media assistant will also provide support on a range of related communications tasks, including print product inventory and event logistics support, on an as-needed basis.

The digital media assistant will provide critical support to BFS and will work closely with other members within the various offices across the bureau and the Agency to coordinate strategic messaging and communications campaigns.

The digital media assistant will rank tasks in order of importance and impending deadlines, and handles several tasks simultaneously. The Digital Media Assistant is also expected to become familiar with office/division technical issues and policies, as well as Agency digital platforms and related Agency and U.S. Government policies. Because BFS leads USAID’s efforts to advance the goals of Feed the Future, the U.S. Government’s global hunger and food security initiative, the incumbent must also develop a working knowledge of Feed the Future activities and an understanding of related interagency processes. The Digital Media Assistant must develop a working knowledge of USAID policies, processes, and guidelines, BFS and Feed the Future priorities, and corporate practices and procedures.

Responsibilities
The duties for this position may include, but are not limited to:

Provide communications expertise to the BFS Communications team
Serve as the liaison between BFS and KDAD Communications Teams
Analyze digital communications products for quality, completeness, and editing as needed
Develop digital communications content for and disseminating compelling messaging and multimedia content via digital platforms and social media, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Storify and YouTube
Support the Communications Portfolio Manager
Tackle other ad hoc tasks as required to support the BFS communications team
Required Education
The candidate for this position should hold a minimum of a BA or BS.

Required Experience & Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (food security, communications, market systems or financial inclusion related areas, international development, etc.)
At least two years of experience working in one or more of the KDAD technical areas including: food security, agriculture, microenterprise development, financial services, knowledge management/learning or communications
Experience working with USAID or USAID-funded activities a plus
International experience a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office
Experience working with social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Storify and YouTube
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
Ability to maintain a positive attitude and calm demeanor when working under tight deadlines
Team player and able to work well independently
