The Director of Product Marketing for Outback Steakhouse will lead the Product Development Lifecyle for the brand. This will include accountability for innovation pipelines focused on both current product optimization and new product development. It will also include menu merchandising and development as well as pricing analytics and cost analysis for SKU management and rationalization.

This position creates: product strategies, communications guidelines, claims and marketing assets for the product portfolio. This leader must collaborate with various partners and cross functional business teams to be successful. This leader will deliver a suite of solutions to meet the needs of our consumers and the business with a clear value proposition that differentiates Outback Steakhouse from the competition.

Oversee strategic planning, development, implementation and coordination of product/menu marketing to meet strategic business objectives
Develop strategies to evolve and improve core menu, delivering against consumer, brand, financial, and operational objectives
Track and research food trends in the industry, and specifically among competitors, and develop strategies to stay ahead of and capitalize on opportunities
Work closely with the culinary team to lead and help products move efficiently through the product pipeline process; conduct research when necessary to provide diagnostic information
Manage product testing process, including planning, tracking and communication
Manages the implementation of enhancements to existing product lines. Develops plans, secures resources and coordinates the activities across multiple functional areas to ensure changes to product marketing and operations are implemented within established timeframes
Develops pricing strategy across channels and maintains pricing for designated products
Establishes and monitors qualitative and quantitative benchmarks to measure and evaluate product goal achievement
Partner with Advertising/Marketing Communications to provide all relevant product information needed to create breakthrough marketing communications
Work with internal teams to develop consumer insights that inform marketing plans, as well as test the effectiveness of marketing activities
Provide communication updates on product innovation and development initiatives
Work with finance to generate mix, P&L and other business analysis for all product tests and national product promotions/introductions
Work in the restaurants on a regular basis in order to identify product marketing issues and opportunities
Manages third-party services supporting product marketing and production; Negotiates contracts and monitors vendor performance

Bachelor’s degree, required. Masters is preferred

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in brand/product marketing, or other related field; direct product innovation and marketing experience with a national food service, retail or packaged goods brand
7+ years of project management experience, required.
Exhibit strong knowledge of principles of effective communications with demonstrated ability to clearly communicate to various constituencies in a manner that inspires and influences individuals
Solid understanding of the role product marketing plays in strategic planning
Ability to transform key data into clear conclusions, focusing the organization on business implications and action plans
Ability to accurately manage a large volume of work under tight deadlines with multiple constituencies and decision points
Knowledge of market trends, competitive activity, and restaurant business, opportunities, challenges and operations
Strong organizational and people skills; the ability to effectively create and deliver presentations both written and oral; ability to set appropriate priorities based on business need and impact
Demonstrate analytical, creative and problem solving skills to drive for results within the context of the organizational culture.
