JMT is seeking candidates for a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer position to join our fast-growing practice in Cincinnati, Ohio. The selected candidate will be embedded in a team of experienced project managers and professional engineers working on exciting water and wastewater infrastructure designs, including water distribution and transmission, pumping stations, sanitary rehabilitation design, green infrastructure design, and wet weather solutions for large urban clients, currently underway in the Greater Cincinnati Area and across the Mid-West and Mid-Atlantic regions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Work closely with professional engineers to develop construction plans and specifications for various design projects
Prepare design drawings using 3D design tool
Assist with development of technical evaluation memoranda and reports
Develop technical specifications for latest technologies
Prepare engineering cost estimates
Review constructability of design using critical thinking
Provide QA/QC of technical documents and plans
Assist project managers on development of scope, fee, and schedules for task assignments
Assist with development of marketing proposals and participate in client presentations
Other duties as assigned
The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering all project objectives for assigned tasks including preparing construction contract documents (plans, specifications, cost estimates), preparing written technical memoranda, and will be expected to coordinate with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies and internal staff.
Experience working with Greater Cincinnati based clients at the city, county and state level preferred
Candidates must have the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-production office environment, build successful team relationships and maintain positive coworker interactions
Candidates must demonstrate adequate familiarity with hydraulic designs, specific to:
Pumping stations and force mains, experience developing system curves and transient analysis
Knowledge of hydraulic modeling for distribution and collection systems
Gravity / Combined Sewer, Manning Equation
Water and wastewater treatment process
Inflow and Infiltration analysis
The water/wastewater engineer must demonstrate organized practices, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have flexibility to support time-critical report development and production to meet demanding schedules
Strong computer skills are required: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, ArcGIS, and MS Project
3 - 7 years of experience practicing water / wastewater engineering
Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited Civil Engineering program required, Environmental or Mechanical acceptable depending on course work completed
A passing grade on the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam is required
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
