Jacobs is seeking a Software Programmer for the Herndon, VA office. Duties will include:
Provides software development in support of Splunk integration and deployment, configuration and maintenance.
Will coordinate with other organizations (SOC/CSIRT) and assist with issue resolution across the enterprise
Leverage full utility of Splunk technology to monitor cyber security, protect IT infrastructure, and enable rapid containment and resolution to IT security incidents.
Support the implementation of the Production Splunk ecosystem of Splunk Core, Splunk Enterprise Security, and feature the people, process, and tools that enable successful adoption assuring the solution is able to meet the objectives of the business.


US Citizenship
BS degree from an accredited college or university in a related scientific or engineering discipline or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications.

Minimum Qualifications:
1-2 years programming experience using C/C++, Java, Perl, PHP, and/or Python. Python highly desirable.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent verbal communication skills and succinct writing style
Candidate work onsite at client facility in Herndon, Va.
Desired Qualifications
Programming in Python highly desirable
Experience with Regular Expressions (regex)
Experience with version control such as Git or subversion
Experience with web development, including HTML, JavaScript, CSS
Experience with web scripting languages including PHP, JSP, and/or Ruby on Rails
2 years as a Software Engineer with demonstrated development, requirements, design, and systems support experience
Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and/or SQLSever
Proficient with Linux (such as Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Solaris, etc.) environments including shell scripting (e.g. Bash)
Knowledge/experience with large scale data management tools, such as Splunk, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, HBase, Cassandra, and/or MongoDB
Experience creating and maintaining applications in a variety of programming and scripting languages
Experience developing software for large scale text processing/searching is a plus
Experience with networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, and network programming is a plus

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:
General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
