About Paradox Sports

Paradox Sports is a national non-profit organization that seeks to revolutionize lives through adaptive climbing opportunities that defy convention. Founded in 2007, Paradox events are a place to connect, push limits and change beliefs about what’s possible with a disability. Through our Adaptive Climbing Initiative course, local climbing clubs and national climbing trips, our goal is to make climbing accessible to all.

Paradox Sports is in search of an Executive Director to oversee the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization with the objective to become a nationally recognized leader in the adaptive sports community. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

General Responsibilities

Leadership & Management:
Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, outreach and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals
Serve as the face and central contact of the organization with commitment to and passion for Paradox Sports’ mission and vision
Initiate and lead internal operations, staff and organization including finances, organizational systems and processes, and collaboration with stakeholders. Oversight and completion of all regulatory and legal filings
Develop and implement policy and procedural guidelines to establish professional operations and protocols throughout the organization
Provide direction, motivation, and oversight of all staff, event managers, volunteers and ambassadors

Fundraising & Communications:
Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support Paradox’s mission, including recruiting, training and maintaining appropriate development staff to reach annual fundraising goals and benchmarks
Leadership in developing, executing and reporting annual strategic and operational plans with milestones, outcomes, and budgets for approval by the Board
Generates partnerships and maintains strong relationships with key organizations, corporations, community leaders, and constituents in the adaptive sport and disabled community, including associations, donors, business partners, government agencies and other charitable organizations to further the mission of Paradox Sports
Participates in outside activities as an organizational ambassador to enhance the visibility and reputation of the organization, including industry events, membership organizations, advisory groups, and business and community leaders
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) and five years relevant work experience with excellent references
Transparent and high integrity leadership
Preferred experience or passion working with or participating in the outdoor industry
Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
Excellence in organizational management including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation with the ability to collaborate, coach, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
Strong marketing, communication, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures, especially the adaptive community
Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong public speaking skills-persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with and engage diverse groups of people including volunteer, donor groups and board members
Ability to convey a vision of Paradox’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors
Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed to lead a small non-profit with a capacity for growth
Planning and operation of annual budget
Establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of Paradox Sports
Serving as Paradox’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public
Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Paradox’s Mission
Oversee organization Board and committee meetings
Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a background check
