The Pratt Library is accepting applications for a part-time Library Professional Assistant (LPA) for the Children's Department.

The hourly pay rate for a LPA with a Bachelor's degree is $12.36 per hour. The hourly rate for a LPA with an MLS or MLIS is $15.45.

This position reports to the Children's Department manager.

Summary of Duties:
The summary of duties listed below is not exhaustive. Additional duties are dependent upon the needs of the hiring department/division.

Provide reference and reader's advisory service to walk-in, telephone, and electronic Library customers using both print and electronic resources.

Advise customers on library activities, programs and resources.

Support the Children's Specialists in providing services and programs for children and their caregivers, especially early childhood programs (birth to five).

Must be available for evening hours and weekends. Flexible hours not to exceed 19 hours per week.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.

Desired Qualifications

MLS or MLIS degree from an ALA accredited college or university. Children's subject interest or specialty.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Comfortable working with children. Familiar with Children's literature. Knowledge and use of current technology including internet, MS Word, and automated databases. Ability to work with a diverse customer base and as a team player.

Drug & Alcohol Testing

Position of Trust

Those under final consideration for appointment will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a criminal conviction check.

Enoch Pratt Free Central Library Renovation

The Enoch Pratt Free Library is excited to announce a major renovation of the Central library. The Central library will remain open throughout the renovation and continue to provide full patron services.
