About Stevenson

The Robert Louis Stevenson School is a longstanding small, coed, independent secondary school on the Upper West Side. With a robust, supportive Advising and Clinical structure, we serve bright adolescents who have struggled in a traditional school setting. Students at Stevenson may be struggling with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) adjustment problems, anxiety, depression, or difficulties with peers. Stevenson is offering a full-time position to oversee the school’s technology needs and use, of which notable components include systems management, classroom support, and instruction of classes related to the field.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software.
  • Build and maintain school website.
  • Manage network environment.
  • Ensure security of data, server storage, network access, and backup systems.
  • Ensure adherence with software licensing laws.
  • Provide users appropriate training, support, and advice.
  • Work as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators.
  • Manage an organized and professional classroom that is conducive to learning and development.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent time management and planning skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work confidentially with discretion.
  • Maintain ethical teacher-student boundaries.
  • 2+ years of IT management experience or other relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience teaching computer science, programming, or related classes.
  • Expertise with Google Apps and incorporation of instructional technology in curricular and instructional design.
  • Master’s in related field preferred.
  • Humor, patience, poise, and an ability to purposefully balance structure and flexibility.
