The purpose of this position is to perform work of a quasi-police nature in support of law enforcement activities in a zone or bureau of the Police Department; to perform investigative work; to participate in and provide support and assistance to special crime prevention and enforcement programs; to work with the community; and to perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks. Duties include handling calls for service in person and over the phone not requiring the presence of a sworn officer.
One year of public contact or customer assistance experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Requires the equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Possession of or required to obtain within six months from date of hire, an Arizona Terminal Operator Certification (TOC) Level B.
Successful completion of initial probationary period is contingent upon passing an FBI background investigation. Based on position, referred applicants may be subject to additional testing which may include pre-employment polygraph, physical and drug screening.
