Job Overview:
This role will have responsibility for leading the technology strategy, design, development, and operations of store systems, enterprise common services, cloud platforms, and customer care solutions for Macy’s Inc.

This is a very strategic and highly visible role with a broad set of responsibilities requiring extensive collaboration and partnership across Macy’s internal stake holders including Merchandising, Logistics/Supply Chain, Marketing, Stores, Digital, Customer Care, Product Management organizations and 3rd party vendors. A key aspect of this role is to lead the efforts to modernize Macy’s technology stack especially as we look to increase leverage of cloud technologies and platforms with a strong intention to lower the overall total cost of ownership.

This leader should have an excellent and deep engineering and operational foundation well-rounded in leading modern technology delivery at scale in both modern stack and legacy systems, and experience leading digital transformation efforts in retail. Given the breadth of responsibilities, this individual should have a track record in bringing together a diverse set of technology teams to drive delivery at scale. Be willing to take on additional engineering and leadership duties as assigned. Given the distributed nature of the business functions supported by this leader’s engineering team, travel may be required. Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:
Continuously explore future technology needs for Macy’s by balancing technology innovation, industry trends, and Macy’s customer and associate facing solution needs.
Lead the development, delivery, and operations of technology solutions to enable digital transformation of Macy’s customer facing solutions including Stores and Customer Care.
Accountable for the delivery of cloud-native enterprise common services.
Accountable for all efforts related to design, development, and operations of Macy’s cloud platform.
Responsible for partnership and collaboration with various cross-functional teams to design & build enterprise services – product management, project and program management, infrastructure, operations and business teams.
Accountable for partnership and collaboration with a broad set of stakeholders – merchants, product management, store operations, supply chain, customer care, and infrastructure teams.
Accountable for software quality and financial accountability across the MTech organization.
Accountable for attracting and retaining talent in both the modern technology stack and legacy platforms.
Drive performance through people engagement; cultivating an environment which supports growth, continual feedback, and inclusion.
Be the people leader which helps your team thrive, providing clear direction toward the company strategic priorities and Technology objectives. Develop the team and build a culture through accountability to Macy’s values and behaviors.
Responsible for MTech budget, projects delivery, quality, performance, and bench strength.

Decision Making:
Ability to balance short-term tactical decisions with long-term strategic thinking.

BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field strongly preferred.
15+ years of experience in software engineering, engineering management, driving large-scale transformation initiatives required.
10+ years of experience leading & managing engineering leaders.
Experience in multi-channel retail technologies required.
Experience leading enterprise architecture required.
Experience delivering software engineering solutions in a highly matrixed organization required.
Experience managing large offshore teams and 3rd party vendors required.
Experience building cloud-native applications in private & public cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS, PCF, etc.) required.
Experience building cloud platform leveraging public cloud technologies (GCP, Azure, AWS) required.
Experience with modern tech stack and open source technologies required.

Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrable presentation, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and analytical skills.

Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands:
This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
